Electronic Tach

Has anybody put an electronic tachometer on their CUT? Everything else I've ever had, had even a mechanical tach on it. I don't really like to open the throttle up and then back it off a little as a way to determine running RPM's. That doesn't tell me if I'm close to 540 RPM on the PTO.
