They also had to replace both metal lines that go the whole way back to the filter, correct?

Be careful what you wish for!

I've been wishing my battery would bite the dust, and it did yesterday. All the starter did was click. Didn't get any work done, but I did get me a $66 SLA battery at O'Reilly's. New Holland gave me a $57 adjustment on the old spitting one, so I came out OK. I am thinking the new one will last 2 years. $33 per year is more than I usually pay for a battery, but it will be worth it to not have to worry about acid damage any more.

<font color="orange"> I used to buy only the 5 to 7 year batteries.
Found out that they lasted 2 or 3 years before I had to replace them.
Started buying the cheeper 2 or 3 year batteries. Still have to replace them every 2 or 3 years also but get the same 2 or 3 years out of them that I did with the 5 to 7 years ones and for less money.

No malice intended, but the design has been in effect for many years and I'm sure many of us 33D owners have replaced our hoses many times(700hrs and two replacements). And it is no fun to have a hose break and have fluid go everywhere because of a bad design. Same goes for the battery.
And they just brought out the 33DA with the same setup and I'm sure they knew that the hoses and batteries were causing problems. They spend a lot of money on new plastic work, they should have vested a little on updating the hose and battery setups. Still a great tractor, maybe someday they'll get eveything right /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have noticed the same thing. The better batteries cost at least twice as much, but certainly don't last twice as long!

Thought I'd share my experience on the battery issue.

I just got my TC33DA back from its 50 hour service at the dealer. Thanks to this forum, I knew about the battery problem and the right angle coolant hose problem, so I mentioned them to the service manager.

I'm happy to report that my dealer (Hanley Implement) took care of me well. They replaced the OEM battery with an Optima yellow top battery, and replaced the right angle hoses with an improved setup of metal lines and straight hoses. All this was done under warranty, plus they delivered the tractor after completing the services (33 mile one way trip) for no charge.

I guess I'm fortunate to have a good dealer who has demonstrated a willingness to take care of problems.

Tom
I would love to see a picture of this fix that the dealer had made. Thanks

Just can't get good ole Japanese quality any more.
My OEM battery lasted 12 years (NH 2120).

My OEM battery was just fine too. However, the front half of my tractor was quickly corroding to pieces from the daily acid bath provided by the OEM battery.

I'm happy with my Optima battery.

Well I joined the "No more OEM battery" club this week.

I went to start the tractor the week before last and could only manage a half hearted turn of the engine before the clicks started. No problem, I'll just give her a jump. When I connected the car, it really pulled the engine down, to a point I felt something was wrong.

I've needed a battery charger for a while so off to the store I go and get a smart charger. When I hooked it up it started to charge then gave me an error code indicating shorted cell. Well great, I was really needing to get rid of some more storm debris.

After checking the local parts houses for an SLA, AGM (aka Optima) there was nothing that would fit the battery box. I called my mechanic and asked him to order an Optima 51R. A few minutes later he called back to say they no longer manufacture that model. Not to worry, TBN has made me a veritable expert on repairs so I asked for an Odyssey battery...not havin' any of that either. So I ordered one from the factory on Tues. and it was here on Fri.

Tractorin' again...:D
P.S. This is the 925L despite the label.
