Embarrassing Question

I'm embarrassed to provide pictures. This old tractor is most definitely function over form. It looks bad, but runs good.

I'll try to get some pictures after I fix it up a little. I've got to get a seat for it and clean it up a little. Needs paint REALLY bad. Sure is nice to hear that old fuel stingy 3 cylinder running though. There's nothing like the smell of Napalm,.. er'... I mean, diesel exhaust in the morning! These old 3 cylinder diesels are a mechanical masterpiece IMHO.

Nothing to be embarrassed about Doc. We all realize that you're bringing her back from the dead. Old iron that is being revived is a beautiful thing, no mater what condition it starts in.

.

can't be any worse than this old ratty 1957 ford 950 rowcrop I just pulled home. welded up tin.. missing tin.. incorrect PA rims with too large 14.9-28 tires.. rims are welded solid and not adjusted the same... no charge system, no 2 wires on it are stock or the same size.. almost none have insulation.. no gauges.. and has the rare 'outside the rails' exhaust system.. :)

Now that it is running I'd change the oil right away, no telling what you freed up into it, especially if the brake fluid bled past the rings..

Skyco,

Yes I was going to warm it up this evening and drain the oil and pour some diesel fuel through the open crankcase while it's still hot then let it drain overnight. My wife called and wanted to go out to eat so it ate into my schedule. I did, however, take the time to go see how easy it would start after cooling off. I hit the starter and it busted right off.

Soundguy,

That 840 will make a nice tractor. My 3000 doesn't look any better than your picture, if as good. BTW, a neighbor of mine had one like that 840 and farmed about 300 acres with it until he had heart problems in 66. He bought it new and was still running it for odd jobs when he died a few years ago.
