Embarrissing Tractor moments?

My wife was helping me cut up some limb-wood by holding it over a saw horse
while I zinged it off with the chain saw and threw it in the tractor bucket
while she got another piece ready. The saw seemed to be running hot and loosing power. After a while it quit and bound up. I said to the wife "well I guess we're done with this for today" and when I started picking up the saw and gas the wife said
* "How come you're using the lawn mower gas *today"

Now that's a DUH moment.

Geez, this is like confessional or something....

I was loading my backhoe onto my 16'+3 equipment trailer, which was connected to my Dodge dually. The whole rig was on a hill.

I stalled the backhoe just as I got the front tires on the trailer. The rear tires were still on the ground. The stalling motion rocked the trailer, which caused the trailer ramps to fold up.

The weight of the backhoe lifted the rear of my dually off the ground. With me still sitting on my BH, the truck, trailer, the backhoe and I went for a nice ride down the driveway, across a state road, and into a farmer's field across the street. Fortunately, the rig didn't jack knife. Moreoever, I wasn't killed. Lesson learned!

Yee-haw! And thank you Jesus!

Which lesson did you learn ?
The one about wheel chocks ?
The one about turning your wheels to the curb when parked on a hill ?
The one about throwing the clutch to roll 1/2 off the trailer and get SOME braking with 2 of the hoe's wheels ?

Babington style waste oil heater pumps

The cam gear pump works fine for filtered WVO or used motor oil Babington heaters and I have installed it on my Babington style heaters. Ldu Company's stock number is 450516 , The only thing about the cam gear pump is that the fire kind of pulses as the cam gear rotates. If you use the spur gear pump that is LDU's stock number 450512 then you get a steady non-pulsing fire. LDU Company also has other parts that I use for building my waste oil burners, like gear reduction motors. I find it best to turn the pump slower because you really don't need a whole lot of oil dripping on the atomizer ball.

you just weren't persistant enough.. they will indeed run on diesel.. just real bad!

i had to run out to a jobsite where one of our employees called in to say the 3" trash pump was 'burnt up' and needed a new engine ( some sort of 'lawnmower gasser.. like a 6.5hp etc.. ) I went out there.. it was running but coughing and smoking.. looked around a bit.. noticed a yellow diesel can.. at this point it was only half full.. we put gas in and it immediatly picked up.. by the end of the day it was fine..

Turns out they won't run on diesel oil...........

Did it right in front of the hired hand, too. Still getting ribbed for it.

And I have too many other lessons I have learned, that I don' wanna talk about.......

most embarressing moment ive had was getting 2 trators stuck within 10mins of each other. i was about 17 at the time. one of the teenagers my dad had working on the farm tore low range section out of the 4020. i was using it to haul rollbales to the drylot 3miles down the road. going on the road i allways ran it in road gear. i got off at the gate opened it up put it in 3rd let the clutch out nothing. tried 1st 2nd and so on. nothing. so i slipped the clutch and got it in the gate in high gear and proceeded to drop my bale. the kids didnt move the ring either. i sunk it up to my axle in mud didnt have low gear to try and creep out. starter was bad so had to leave it running. low on fuel. by this time i was irritated. walked back to the farm and got the TW20 and a chain. hooked up and proceeded to pull the 4020 and the TW20 sunk to the axle in mud. now im positivly pissed. walked back again and got the 1950t fwd and pulled the ford out then the deere. i should mention this was 2hrs before prom too :laughing:

See the missing head lights and grill ? ONe day i decided to wash my radiator out and didnt get the front cover latched back all the way, and later i went to go bush hogging a large field and the front cover fell off while i was bush hogging and i ran over my own front end.
and what was funny was that i didnt realize at the time that the plastic parts that were being destroid by the 6 foot cutter was my own front end parts i thougt that i ran over some old plastic car parts, later that night i was still mowing when i needed to turn on my head lights and i didnt have any, mind you this was three hours after i ran over my front grill so i was suprized not to have any head lights, from the drivers seat you cant see the grill is missing so i just kept mowing. so that why in the picture ive got the new brush gard its more to keep my front end from fall off than to protect it front brush.
