Take the bottom off your coffee maker... for testing, jump the thermal cut-off device {or use an ohm meter to test for open}... if it works... go to RS for the part and fix it for $2.... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Terry,

The only advice I can give you is DO NOT buy the Mr. coffee brands that are in all the Walmarts. I've been through two in the last year and they are really just junk. They leak, for one, and the device that is supposed to let you steal a cup while it's brewing can malfunction, and often does, and it makes a really HUGE MESS. Next time I buy a cofee maker, I'm going to foucus on quality, not price.

You could do what I did about 8 years ago when the electric was out. Folgers singles+small pan with water+plumbers torch=1 cup of coffee, maybe this could help till you decide what you want to do for a coffee maker./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The only torch I have is one of those 400,000 btu flamethrowers that you attach to a propane bottle. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif So, I appreciate your suggestion but prefer that the local firecompany remains at their station. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I have a small coffee press but need to have a new, reliable coffee maker. I'm the only one who drinks coffee in the house so I get no help from the wife. If it was up to her, I would have two choices - no coffee or instant. As you can imagine, this choice is purely mine and it's time to purchase a quality machine.

Gee, your the only coffee drinker....I hope the cost of a new coffee maker does not have to come out of your tractor budget./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I recommend a Bunn Coffee Maker. It has a water storage tank(Stainless Steel) that pre-heats the water so it is always ready to brew. It only takes a couple of minutes to brew a 10 cup pot. I am on my second unit. The first one lasted 10 years before it started to leak a little. Bought a new one to match our new kitchen more than anything else. They are a bit pricey ($99) but can be found on sale for less. I quess $9.00/year isn't too bad.

It would not take as long with that 400,000 btu to heat the water, now would it?/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
