I'm sure you'll get a lot of good advice about brewers. Since I've actually had good luck with a Mr. Coffee, I'll abstain. If, however, you find any brand with a pot, carafe or whatever they call it, that will pour when full, please let me know. Every one I've tried first dribbles water all over the place while filling the coffee maker, then dribbles coffee until down a cup or two.

Charlie,

I've had good luck with GE's, Black&Decker (bought out GE brand), and Mr Coffee. The only time I had any trouble with any leakage/spillage is when I didn't get the carafe in properly. As far as pouring a cup, check your carafe. There's a good chance that the handle is out of alignment. I've had them all get out of alignment. Just loosen the handle a eyeball it till its fairly straight.

While I'm a real fanatic about my coffee and filters, I'm happy with any brewer that uses a stainless or gold filter. (Paper filters change the flavor, especially those using bleached paper.) At home I use a Mr Coffee with a gold filter for when we have company, i.e., we need a full pot, and a simple French Press for just the wife and me. I like the press cuz it's uncomplicated, inexpensive, easy to clean and doesn't require power. So it works even when the power goes out! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I think he's low on coffee. No caffeine for Thomas = nap time. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Met, too, Terry. Our coffee maker is turned on so much of the time that none of them are likely to last a year. We've had Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker, West Bend, and currently running a GE; just buy a new one at Walmart or K-Mart when they quit.

And we, too, seem to have no problem with pouring the coffee unless we try to pour it too fast.

Funny you should mention that./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I nearly always get up earlier than my wife, and just a couple of weeks ago, I got up, poured a cup of last night's coffee in the cup, microwaved it, turned on the coffee maker for fresh coffee, and came in here and got on TBN. When I was ready for another cup, I went in the kitchen to find my wife mopping the countertop and floor./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Seems I didn't get the carafe in there straight; first time that's happened. Guess I should have turned on more kitchen lights./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Not a good thing to start your wife's day off that way./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird,

Sounds like you were close to getting mopped up by the mop. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I NEVER try to get the better half upset early in the morning. Just not a pretty sight. I'm talking about me of course... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif after she finishes with me..... wince... oh the thought.

Braun or Krupps. The Bunn is a nice pro unit but both Bruan and Krupps also have excellent "Pro" units.
Mr Coffee is a joke, why bother, most of the flavor stays in the grinds. The flat bottom cup does not spread the seeds---wait that is another thread---does not require turbocharging--oh well--coffee is coffee kinda like oil is oil till there was synthetic.

Pete - What is it that is a problem with paper filters? I use unbleached paper filters and have been very happy with the result. Every time I have use the gold filter I have been dissapointed by the rounding off of the taste (just doesn't have that /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifWAKE /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifUP /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifEDGE /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif) - it losses the flavor IMHO. I guess it's what I am used to (almost always drinking french roast) but am curious as to the official info.
