Kubota L3710
I have a Kubota L3710. No engine oil pressure. Yes , its full of oil. Oil light came on when operating it today. Changed oil sensor switch, w/ genuine kubota($30),light still on. put a pressure guage on it, 0.

Would look for a oil pump or blocked screen.
Remove oil filter full of oil or dry. spin engine does oil get pumped to the filter if not time to remove pan and check for what is wrong May be require more skill than what you have but proper repair most important.
How long did the engine run with out oil pressure don't know may be time to check rod bearing and mains.
Hopefully it is under warrenty.

Thanks Ken,, has less than 1,450 hrs. ran engine only a few times after noticed light, less than 30 secs. oil is clean w/ about 40 hrs on last change. always changed every 200hrs. I left the oil sending unit out and spun the engine over, thinking I would see oil coming out(not). I guess its time to drop the oil pan

OMF Sorry to see the no oil results. as soon as the pan is removed it should be plane to see if something let go. at the sender point would almost have to be the pump. or gears driving the pump.
interested to get info. when you locate the cause.

In the olden days when a Kubota would lose oil pressure it would be because it pushed the aluminum plugs out of the camshaft, Kubota cams are drilled down the center and used as the galley for lubricating the cam bearings. But they switched to steel plugs well over a decade ago and I haven't seen it as a common failure since. If you get the pan and front cover off and don't see a problem with the screen or pump, that is where I would go next.

Brian, The tractor is a 1999 year model. Do you know if these had the old style cam plugs?

I'm sure they were using steel plugs by then, but it doesn't mean one it both couldn't have come out. I would probably still pull the pan first to check the pick up and then the front cover and look at the oil pump before I chased the possibility of it being the cam plugs.

This is one where you don't want to cut corners. Pull the pan and unbolt the pump, if it has a strainer clean it thoroughly see if there is sludge build up in the pan. Your going to have to go to the dealer for a new gasket anyway so take the pump along and have them take a look. If there is any doubt replace it. No oil can wipe out an engine real quick.

Thanks Guys!, I did finally get the pan off today. Had to remove the front drive shaft and drop the front diff(4x4)a little to get a wrench on the 2 front oil pan bolts. The oil screen and tube looked fine(no sludge or trash at all). The oil pump is inside the gear housing on front of engine, behind water pump and such. I seem to have some motion in the rod bearings and noticed some metal shavings in bottom of oil pan. I've made arrangements to send it to the shop. I think I'm past my abilities. Thanks agian for your help! ps. found some good diagrams at messecks tractor. I'll let you know how it turns out

There was a knock in plug on the engine block, in-line with the oil suction galley, between the oil pump and the oil pick-up tube, which had came out, causing the oil pump to lose prime and suck air. This plug could have been lose for a while, causing the pressure to be low. I now have to overhaul the engine. VERY POOR DESIGN. This plug can get loose and cause the oil pressure to be very low for an undetermined amount of time, with out the oil sensor light ever coming on.Because it being on the suctio side, there would be very little or no visual evidence.

Hello,
I just finished my major overhaul on my Ford 1910, before I attempt to start it I want to make sure the oil is being pumped throughout to inner workings of this engine. I have been giving it 10 to 15 second turn overs without fuel so it will not start. How do I know if the oil is circulating? There is no pressure gauge and the light is not hooked to anything. I have been turning it over for about a week now. I pulled the valve cover off to see if there was any signs of oil splashing around but I can not tell. I had pored a quart of oil over the rockers after the rebuild so I cant tel lif the oil I see is just from that. I unscrews the sender that is mounted on the oil filter mount, oil does come out when I turn it over but I had expected more ir to see it squirt out. I don't want to attempt to start it until I am sure oil is being pumped internally. Anyone have any suggestions?

Does it have an idiot light? When I change my oil I unplug the wire to the electric solenoid, crank briefly for several 15 second intervals until the oil pressure light on dash goes out, then reattach wire, and start up the engine. I also fill the new OEM dealer oil filter with clean oil before installing, ensuring that the oil pump doesn't have to pump it full.

Instead of playing mind games, hook up a oil pressure gauge or idiot lamp.... Guessing is dangerous, being positives is wonderful...

At start (cranking) RPM pump is probably just going to supply enough oil to wet the bearings and probably just dribble out removed plug, real oil pressure will be there after engine comes up to at least idle rpm... Don't go past idle speed till it shows pressure... Put gauge in system and fire it off, it should almost show immediate oil pressure if pump has prime, if you used a good assembly lube when assembling engine its probably going to be ok if engine runs 5-10 seconds before it show decent oil pressure....

Thank you, great suggestions, will do.

When I overhauled my Yanmar I put an oil pressure gauge on it and started it. I don’t see any advantage to playing around with it, especially without knowing whether you getting pressure.
