Engine oil type

Now that I have my filters I have a question about oil grade.The sticker on the hood says 10w40 CD or better in summer and 5w30 CD or better in winter.I was told that this grade doesn't exist for diesels.The owners manual says for summer Sae 20 or 10w30 or 10w40 and winter sae 10w all class cc or better.also the injector pump is the same.should I go with the straight 20w or15w40 or synthetic

A friend has a Bolens G214 ?? I believe, with an Isuzu diesel and he has only used 15w-40 Rotella from day one...

Thanks. John, mine is abolens G294.Looks like it will need a clutch though and has a smoking habit like another I saw on this site.Thinking of selling it and going new compact or old 2w farm like I've had before.I must admit the 4w is nice but these new are pricey and most of the older ones aren't much cheaper.
