Jinma 354
I started up my jinma 354 today to warm it up, I was doing some nearby work when the rpms started dropping slowly, Then it stallled. When I tried to start it again the starter would only clunk and not turn it over. I noticed that some oil had blown out the drain plug and sprayed on the ground. the oil fill cap was letting out fumes. the oil level was good before when I started it up but was low by 2quarts after the engine stopped. I filled it back up but it wont crank over. I fear that it is siezed. Any good way to check or turn it over by hand?

Remove the injectors first.

Does your tractor have a compression release? If so open it and engage the engine shutdown mechanism(governor shutdown lever) and of course the tractor sould be in neutral. Using a socket wrench on the front crankshaft pully, attempt to roll it over in it's normal direction of rotation. With a compression release it should roll over fairly easilly by hand. You said "I noticed that some oil had blown out the drain plug" What exactly did you mean by this? The oil drain plug is screwed in place on the oil pan bottom and nothing should "blow out" of it unless it is not there. I would be wondering where the oil went and how long it ran without it? How was the oil pressure when you started it up? How was the engine temp after it shut down?

You may want to check to make sure your hydraulic pump is not deadheading ,if not that it you prob. spun a rod bearing or main bearing which you would have to drop the oil pan to access it.If you need anything PM we have the crankshafts, bearings, ect.

That caught my attention too.. how did oil 'blow out' of the drain plug?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I wish you the best and I hope it isn't something serious. However.. sounds serious to me. Please keep us posted.

Sounds like broken rings to me. That would have let high pressure blow by piston into the crank case and possibly cause it to blow oil by drain plug and through the oil cap.

Good Luck
