Engine Warm up?

What was that bit about diluting crankcase oil with fuel? How is the lube oil involved in the exhaust system?

Some common rail engines will inject fuel on the exhaust stroke to burn in the exhaust manifold and dpf to "clean" the system.
At times some of that fuel will migrate to the crankcase, I have not seen an engine that dumped enough to raise the oil level.
I have seen engines that had a small amount of fuel contamination in the oil that would mostly get cooked out when the engine got to temperature.
I have seen fuel dilution on older engines that where run to cold and not worked hard enough.

I have a pre Tier 4 2009 Kubota M6040. One way or the other - fully warmed up before any hard jobs. About five minuets at 1200 rpm. Then drive to the job site. It will always be fully warmed up before any tough stuff. That's been the way I've done it - 38 years, two tractors.

I'm of the same mind as Oosik. Start, idle for 20-30 seconds, then move it out of the garage.
Bump the idle up to about 1200 and let run for 5-10 minutes depending on how cold it is outside. Once the temp needle stops rising it's ready to work.

In the spring summer and fall, I'll start them, give'em 30-40 seconds to smooth out get the oil circulating then drive either to the implement thats going to be hooked up or if ready to go to the fuel tank to be topped off then just drive them easy for a few minutes.
In the winter it's a tad bit different, I park one close to the house and plug in the block heater.
I'll go out and get it started and running smooth bump the throttle up a bit 1200-1500 rpm then go back in an finish some more coffee before I climb back into the heated cab to start working it,.

My regimen as well minus the block heater. Mine stay in the hay barn.

diesels do not warm up unless they are reved up and are under load.

Think I'll disagree with that. They won't get up to optimum operating temperature in the middle of the winter but they do warm up sufficiently, at least mine do. Yours may be different.

Mine has a sticker on the window. At start up idle for 'at least one minute' at shut down idle for five minutes. This has to do with turbocharger.
