Enormous Stump disposal? Most cost effective method?

Look for a skid steer operator and work out a deal. I have moved things like that for 50.00 for folks who have patience enough to let me work it in. If I have to be there tomorrow it is 250 min charge to drive out.

Get a good pair of goggles, face shield and high pressure washer even if you have to buy a new one for about $400 is still cheaper than getting a backhoe. You could likley rent a 4000 PSI one and do all of it in a day, but I prefer to put my money into owning if I think I would have a need and a good pressure is something that you can use for lots of tasks on a farm. The small one will eventually eat thru the clay if you stay at it long enough. If you have a tooth bar on your FEL then you can remove a lot of the dirt with that prior to starting with the pressure washer. Wash the dirt, chainsaw into small enough pieces to handle with your baby tractor and haul them to a burn pile. Let them dry for a year or so and then use all your old used motor oil to fire them up. Maybe collect brush trimming to add to the pile for a year till you have some good kindling.

If you don't have a pic you don't have a stump. Hire your wife.:D:laughing:

been there done that, best way is to
1. start out with a pick/shovel & trench spade to knock off as much clay dirt & rocks as you can. do this all the way around
2. toss the knocked off dirt & clay off into the bucket of the tractor & move it away dump & return until most of the easily to access dirt is off. (Keep the walking & working area clear of the majority of loose dirt as it is hard to work around & will make it better in long run.)
3. get out the ax & knock off the roots some all around the stump & repeat cleaning as you go of excess dirt prior to getting water out there.
4. power wash smaller sections where it can be cut off (large roots at the base say.) Work mostly on one side when doing this so it can be rolled easier in later steps.
5. get a 100 buck chain saw & a spare chain & go after the big exposed roots & top that you can get to hacking off all the chunks ya can. Sale prices are cheap now. look at a electric one as they can take some abuse & will have a better warranty ;) OR rent a DEMO (demolition saw)
6. repeat until you can roll it up on its side.
7. repeat the dirt removing process & keep going until you can move it out of the yard..Mark

No one has mentioned using your BH! I'd follow all the steps above then try and use the BH to roll it. I have a BX23 and have moved some huge rocks and stumps. One rock was as long as the tractor from the front guard to the driver platform and almost as tall as the hood. (sorry no pics)

Had almost the same problem, except I was the backhoe renter, and ya, time was up, and had a few large stumps left in less desirable places.

We cleared dirt and then sawed. Repeat for a wile.

Get a 0-degree rotary nozzle for the electric pressure washer, you'd be amazed what is will be able to do. Dirt is fairly easy to dislodge with some pressure.

Once you get some dirt cleared back, use the saw on what is dirt/rock free.
