About time the freeloaders start paying their fair share !

I thought most states already started doing this years ago? If not, shame on them for being too slow to adapt.

In PA, it's $45 to register an ICE and $200 to register an EV, with that price going up to $250 next year. I'm finding various figures on average per-capita gasoline usage, but they all center around roughly 550 gal/year, with PA gas tax being 57.6 cents per gallon. Meanwhile, the EV drivers are paying 6.27% gross-receipts tax on their charging, on a supposed 3000 - 4000 kWh per year.

So, average ICE drivers are paying roughly $317 in fuel tax on average, whereas the BEV drivers are paying $43 in GRT at PA's low (~$.20/kWh) electric rates. So a PA driver is paying $362 in reg+tax, for an ICE, versus $243 in reg+tax for a BEV, which is probably why they're raising it another $50 next year.

As someone who's been selling product into Europe for decades, interest in European sales has always sort of baffled me, as the numbers never seem to support the interest.

Case in point, Germany sales tanked by 76%, so the media idiots create all sorts of headlines about it, and everyone takes notice. But what tiny fraction of Tesla sales ever went to Germany?

Tesla sold 1.8 MILLION cars in each of the last two years (2023, 2024). And Germany bought 0.01 Million Tesla cars this year. Why does anyone really even care about European sales, when their numbers are always so pathetically low?

I have friends in Germany, who constantly send me crap like this. I always have to remind them that, while Europe makes a lot of noise and gets a lot of attention, their entire National economies are smaller than any one of our top ten cities.

Put more bluntly, Californians buy almost as many Tesla cars per week, as all of Germany combined does in a year! :p
The numbers are still interesting to me, nonetheless. Did Germany cancel incentives starting in 2024? That's quite a drop in EV sales.

Wonder why Oregon lags progressive states like Kentucky on collecting road taxes from Hybrid and and EV owners? In our case we pay less KY road taxes on our ICE vehicles than on our Hybrid and EV vehicles.

Ford flew one in 6 months ago from China and Jim has been driving it and he does not want to give it up.

GM just did a $5 billion write-off because of their failures to make a go in China in the EV space.

But battery swapping doesn't work according to some. The new 5 minute charge is about the same time as a swap.

Then there's these guys:

NIO and CATL form new partnership to build the world’s largest battery swap network

EV battery swap has never worked.

Just consider the financial risk of renting an item worth $10,000. The damage which can be done when you are not watching. Renters are not willing to pay the price you have to receive to break even.
