This past weekend was one of the bigger travel long weekends ( Labour Day weekend Canada) Toronto and Montreal folks heading to their cottages or family is typical......here is article looking at EV charging/ gas station needs at peak times of year.....interesting quick 4 min read Motor Mouth: I witnessed firsthand why we desperately need more EV chargers
Another author fantasizing about something which he has no experience. Uses Canadian regulatory red tape limiting gasoline station construction and operation creating a shortage then extrapolates that to the EV world.

The big fallacy in his fantasy is that he imagines all ICE vehicles will be EV overnight. All the while travel corridor EV charging facilities don't change at all.

Recently got a Buc-ees, 15 miles from me. 128 fuel dispensers, ULSD, E10, and E0. Local government officials were delighted. Also has a Mercedes Benz Charging Hub using ChargePoint Express + 400kW hardware, 10 charging bays. No doubt those dastardly Capitalists will add more EV charging if the demand increases.

Somehow thinks that just because an ICE driver may start a trip with less than a full tank, that an EV driver might also neglect to start with a proper charge. We start every morning, trip or not, with a proper charge.

In his ignorance he demonstrates no knowledge of how EV drivers charge on long trips. Believes we somehow charge from 20% to 80% every time.

You obviously didn't read the article or have any understanding of Canadian Highways or general traffic impacts all countries face. All your counter points were covered by the article.

Yep that's the world were headed to....extension cords lying in the rain or snow. So our family can visit and get home. Heck wasn't it even the Superchargers in Chicago snow storm had all sorts of problems icing up, but then Grumpy or Trad will tell us it was sabotage....... ;)
I keep telling you The Gas Station Model doesn't work for EVs then you cite an example of The Gas Station Model failing and in your brilliance think it proves there is something wrong with EVs because they do not operate exactly like an ICE.

News flash: Automobiles drive differently than horses. Automobiles will never be practical until they respond to verbal commands and reins.

In Chicago, idiots who were sold a bill of goods in believing they had Gas Stations and didn't need inexpensive overnight L2 charging, appeared with cold batteries that had to be heated before accepting interesting charge rates. They plugged in, charging didn't immediately start, didn't understand, declared that charging bay to be out of order. In those temperatures it could take 30 minutes to warm the battery to a temperature suitable for fast DC charging. If on L2 overnight, "30 minutes? So what?"

Many Chicagoans threw the Supercharger connector to the ground in the snow. This did freeze in some. Many accounts of users In The Know defrosting said connectors.

I suspect your statistics are specific to USA only, and you see yourself that boomers hard earned money is a new trend exposing their customer money lately and longer active life trend too. And by your website link ( that basically sells mailing lists and email addresses to clients) represents close to 30% of new car customers . But that aside, now reflect on what primary factors have slowed down the rush to buy EVs ........( besides left wingers now realizing Ego Musk is no friend of theirs) it's confidence in convenient charging availability , and linked to that is the big one range anxiety. Probably the same reason hybrids are the better fit for most.
I thought the challenge I was answering was how many had access to at-home charging.

I think hybrids can be a good fit for some, particularly that very small fraction of new car buyers who aren’t living in single homes with access to at-home charging, or those who have no ICE backup. But traditional hybrids are mostly boring econo boxes, and PHEVs are more expensive at any comparable trim level.

I believe big car companies are in fact, cognizant of their vehicle’s used market demographics and values
I agree, but how does that translate into their decision to build and market EV versus ICE?

But I did read the entire article. The author has no EV experience and fantasizes about how an EV operates. It only makes sense if you are impressed by words that say what you want to hear. Tries a little math to impress you further. If you know the subject then he is a fool.

Again, he fantasizes all ICE replaced with EV overnight in Canada where they can't even build enough gas stations for ICE.

You live in Canada so you deserve to suffer under the heavy hand of Little Men you allow to run your government and economy.

I’m a homeowner, but my tractor and other valuables get use of my garage.
So, I’m in the homeowner category, but not with a garage to baby an EV.
My ICE vehicles sit outside.
For me to switch the car to an EV ( no reasonable EV trucks yet) would mean we’d have to plug in daily outdoors in the rain, and snow.
My 25 cents electric rate is more than gasoline at 36 mpg.
It would be a step backwards in convenience.
There’s no compelling reason for me to change, yet.
