Ever Felt Threatened Enough That A Pistol Was Needed?

A few times actually. I was taking my girlfriend to a friends house and the road was more of a goat path. with a shallow creek crossing. I crossed it and about 200 yards down a group of older adults were on both sides of the road and one busted my window and they had a car across the road. I threw the s10 in reverse and ran backwards and got hung in the crossing. They ran after us and I remembered the old shotgun behind the seat. Too ka bit to get it out but I fired 2 shots and they went the other way. I traded it for an H&R32 revolver.

I was dating a friends sister and My date and I and her brother and his date went across the TN state line to the bar. It was my night to be the driver. My friends date had dated a member of the Jr deputy program here. They broke up as he was abusive, but he always followed them around. When we got to the bar we noticed a Tish county cop car sitting on the state line. Later we were in the bar and went out to get more money and we saw the car sitting in the parking lot of the bar. We tried calling the police but we couldnt getthe dispatcher to accknowlege it. We took several pictures of the car. I After closing we left and got pulled over when we crossed into MS. Junior deputys arent allowed to drive a county car or tote. We called the sheriffs dept again and its a dead zone there. The deputy got out and had a baton out. I was in my convertible and he got us all out.

He had my friend and his date out of the car and drew back like he was about to strike them. I hollered and when he turned I had the gun on him. We got over the hill and calledthe law. We met with the sheriff and shoed him the footage of the cruiser in TN at a bar and told him what happened. i had good standing with that sheriff and he fired the junior deputy. The deputy actually stole the cruiser from the jail. He was later sent off after he set her house on fire.

Later I was working for a company as an operator and foreman. I had to fire a hand for comming in high. About a week after he was fired I was digging some trenches for the electricians the next morning. I had dug right up to my service truck. All the other help had left and this guy and 4 others pulled up on the site. This was back in 2001 and i had no cellphone. I was in the middle a 120 acre site. I saw them comming and i got the old pistol out and kept digging. When they got out of the truck I killed the backhoe and Waited on them to make their move. The man I fired got out with a Buford Pusser cluband started to cross the ditch and his buddy was right behind him. I pulled out old Bessy and he dropped the club and changed the tune a bit.. We talked a while and afte a 2 week lay off I ended up hiring him on a probationary period and we re friends to this day.

About 5 years ago I was in a convenience store getting gas for my portable welder. The girl working that night knew me from Highschool. She asked me to stay a while because an old car kept comming by when folks werent there. about that time where i was standing I couldnt be seen. These 2 drifter looking folks came in. I stepped out and acted like I was showing the gun to the clerk they left out. The clerk then kept one on her for the night shift.

This is why you should never leave the good old USA. That way only the government can rob you.

Would that. Be the sawed off 1040 or the magnum with the laser optical sights

I had to work out of town during the week for months. One night while I was away, my wife called me and was scared to death and crying. She had heard someone driving up our long gravel driveway at about 11:00 pm, get out of their car and try to open the front door. He didn't knock or ring the door bell, just jingled the door knob. She heard him try to turn the door knob but it was locked. She was laying on the couch, which was visible through a window to the front door. She yelled "George, get the gun quick" real loud so he could hear her. She was home alone with my 3 year old son. She then heard the guy run to his car and peeled out down the driveway. She called the sheriff and then called me. I packed my bags and immediately drove 120 miles back home to be with her.
We lived in the city, but it was a rural area with no street lights.

The next night about 10 pm we were both in bed, lights out and we heard someone walking up the long driveway, which was right by our bedroom. I got out my .357 S&W and waited. The doorbell rang. I went to the front door intercom and asked "What do you want?" No answer, but I see through the peep hole he is standing there. I asked again through the intercom "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" No answer. My heart was really beating then, especially after what happened the night before. No way am I opening that door. Finally, he turns and walks away. I go back to the bedroom and I see red lights flashing out on the street. I get dressed and go out through our front acre to the red lights and see a deputy there, a couple of cars and a man is using SIGN LANGUAGE to communicate with him. Apparently, there was a minor accident. I walked up to the deputy to find out what happened. He told me the guy was a deaf mute and he had walked up to my house to call for help. He had cards that said he was a deaf mute and could not talk. WHEW.
I am very responsible (and sue conscious) and would never shoot through a door at a person, but I was VERY sure he was up to no good when he stood at my front door and would not answer me. When I got back to the house, my wife asked me if things were under control. I said yeah, the guy was a deaf mute but, I think the deputy was drunk or at least I could smell the alcohol on his breath when I talked to him.

wdchyd Ive met Ben a few times, Heck of a nice guy and very professional. That chase ended about 2 miles from my house. And my wife worked for SOuthbank and had just left that branch the day it happened.

Alot of the younger deputies here go through the Walking tall synndrome lol.

Had one sheriff went do a drive by on an informants store with a crew of deputies in a sheriffs car. He ended up driving a garbage truck for dad.

THe one after that stole all the computers from the jail and seized alot of cars and boat illegally.
The one we have now isnt seen out unless theres an eating event or its election time lol.

FOlks wonder why im pro gun.

I am also 64 and though I have never needed a pistol for a particular situation, I carry every time I go out just so I will be prepared should the need arise. Better to lock the barn door before the horse gets out. My weapon of choice is a 5 shot S&W Airweight revolver-very light, plenty of stopping power for truly defensive situations, and there is nothing special to remember about safeties, magazine releases, decockers, etc, like there is for semi-autos-just point and click! I do a lot of off road nature photography and for those days I carry a .44mag which is far more effective on a bear.

Here is my escort in Pakistan. There was the same truck with a machine gun also behind my car. I had a guy with a gun sitting by my door at night. There was one in every hallway, on the building roof etc. Those guys are GBs. They shoot first then ask questions alter. So I was told.

I had a similar experience while working in Medellin, Colombia during the narcogang days. Four policemen on two motorcycles would meet me every morning at the hotel before going into town. The backseat cop on each bike always carried a submachine gun and they all wore body armor. They would surround me while walking in public outside the hotel. Funny thing was that 1) they drew attention to a possible "high value" target that would otherwise not have been evident, 2) they were all about five feet tall and I am six five. I figured that if a fire fight broke out my belly was well protected but my chest, neck and head were unprotected. 3) Even with their weapons they would easily be outgunned by the local hoods. After a few days of that charade I decided I'd be better off solo so I dismissed my protective force. I survived.
