....a couple of cars and a man is using SIGN LANGUAGE to communicate with him. Apparently, there was a minor accident. I walked up to the deputy to find out what happened. He told me the guy was a deaf mute and he had walked up to my house to call for help. He had cards that said he was a deaf mute and could not talk. WHEW.
Man this could of gone side ways quickly. That story was so spooky. A knock on the door and a man standing there not saying anything. WHO WOULD think the guy was a mute.
My goodness that needs to be written in a movie script. Scary and funny at the same time.
Second scenario: You and the deputy standing over a dead body on your porch with a hole in the door and the Deputy says...." you do know he was a deaf mute right?"
I had a similar experience while working in Medellin, Colombia during the narcogang days. Four policemen on two motorcycles would meet me every morning at the hotel before going into town. The backseat cop on each bike always carried a submachine gun and they all wore body armor. They would surround me while walking in public outside the hotel. Funny thing was that 1) they drew attention to a possible "high value" target that would otherwise not have been evident, 2) they were all about five feet tall and I am six five. I figured that if a fire fight broke out my belly was well protected but my chest, neck and head were unprotected. 3) Even with their weapons they would easily be outgunned by the local hoods. After a few days of that charade I decided I'd be better off solo so I dismissed my protective force. I survived.
Thanks for the replies, it seems like there are instances, by your accounts, that it has paid to be armed and ready for trouble.
Yep...problem is, you never know when those "instances" are going to occur...so, be prepared!
Jonyyuma, I have a niece in Memphis.....her husband owns a jewerly store and carrys everyday to work a cute little full-auto machine gun with a folding stock that tucks in neatly in a kids colorfull back pack.....:confused2:......and yes, He has all the permits for it.....
He doesn't mess around with a puny little handgun....Yikees
In a non military application, anything full auto is just a lawsuit in the making.
My son helped train a local SWAT team when they transitioned to full auto M4s and they scared him to death.
The paperwork is expensive and the cost is out of sight on those thing too.
