I found a used DK55 Kioti with a loader for $11,500. This is a 5 year old tractor with 5oo hrs. The BIGGEST difference I see in the two orange brands is resale. My $11,500 machine was purchased by the original owner for $28,000!!!
Kioti may not hold their value quite as well as Kubota. But they do not depreciate that much. Somebody gave away that DK 55 for $11,500.

I,ve been accused by family and friends of having more Kubota stuff around my property then my Kubota dealer. BUT... last fall I needed to add a tractor/loader large enough to lift large round hay bales to use at a 2nd property we have cattle at. Another new large Bota was out of the question. Most used large enough Bota's 15-20K. I found a used DK55 Kioti with a loader for $11,500. This is a 5 year old tractor with 500 hrs.Garage kept, very clean. My impressions: it's well built, a few better then Kubota features, a few rough edges, but all in all a good macine. Dealer support/ parts are spotty, I'm told if you find a dealer Kioti has'nt hacked off, they just hav'nt been gotten around too by Kioti yet.
The BIGGEST difference I see in the two orange brands is resale. My $11,500 machine was purchased by the original owner for $28,000!!! I bought a new Bota in 1995 for $17,400 used it 4 years and sold it for $14,000. Not trying to hurt the Great kioti dealer(s) on this site, but you might want to think about the fast fall in value if you go brand new.

i'd say you just got lucky and found a bargan, and i'd say that kioti was worth a lot more than you paid for it. count your blessings but don't knock the kioti holding its value just because you bought an under priced barely used model. maybe the guy just needed the money and needed to sell it fast, who knows, but tractors in general do hold thier value.

What jumps out at me is the timeframes. The Kubota sale took place in 1999. The Kioti sale took place in 2009. Look at the difference in the state of the economy during those years. 2009 - real estate is worth less, Ira's are worth less, stock portfolio's are worth less, there are less tractor dealers of all brands. Distressed sales are much more common now of days. Even Toyota's are worth less now. To introduce resale value into the equation is very subjective due to all of the underlying factors that come into play.

Anymore people do crazy things. That Kioti for $11,500.00 was a bargain. Four years ago my daughter found a 2004 Toyota Matrix from a private owner that he eventually sold her for under $10,000.00. The way this car was equipped it booked well over $15,000.00. How do people sell things like this so cheap? In this guys case,he had re-financed his home and paid off all his debts, including the loan on the Matrix. He had borrowed the money to remodel, his home and go with one bill. He did not have enough to finish his remodeling so he sold the Matrix and was in a hurry for the money and sold it cheap. If he would have held out he would have easily gotten 14K or better. He did not feel the loss because it was in the home loan. The loss was still there, lots of people are doing this. I do not know if the guy that sold the Kioti was in the same boat. His case could have been different. It could have been a divorce, gift,or inheritance. Or he could have just been crazy.

The Kubota L45 is a real TLB that will Run all day everyday just like The JCB the only difference is the model you showed us is more compared to a Kubota M59 TLB. And both Models of the Kubota's The back hoe comes off also to use the 3 point.

OK
I am having a lovely feast of black crow right now with a beverage of choice.

I didn't realize the M59 was that class of machine. Always thought it was in the light industrial side but after I looked at the specs, it is quite a beast. Probably has planetary final drives too? AND, the PTO seems to be a live PTO instead of hydraulic drive like the JCB.:(

I wonder what the ballpark price is on one because the JCB is about $70,000 here in Canada.

I was pretty interested in it for my next trade in a few years. Might be staying Orange after all.....;)
Thanks.....

Slan , I ate some of that crow just the other day myself. But when I was buying my L45 I also look at a M59 it was just to big for what I wanted to do and stay under the weight to pull with my truck and still be under 26 k combo weight here in PA.

But the price I got from the dealer was not to far off from what the L45 was. I think there not moving many M59 and the price has stayed pretty steady. But the one I looked at was about $48,000 US.

Hope this helps. I like my crow with Barbecue sauce. Lol!!!

No the Kioti DK55 I bought was not a seller in distress. It was an older gent who wanted a unit with a cab. All the dealers he tried to trade with were offering him $10k-$10.5, He ran it in a newspaper in a community of about 80,000 for 2 weeks priced at $12K, I was the first serious looker. (he DID go on to purchase a cab Kubota) and although not the roaring 1990s, the economy in North Texas is about as good as it gets in America today. So again I am not knocking Kioti, and yes I was in the right place at the right time, but tractors outside the big 3 or 4 have a MUCH bigger drop in value the first few years. If you know you will keep it for 20 years go for new, but I'll bet most owners trade up (or down) as their needs/land size/ or skill level changes.

I did quite a bit of shopping before buying my Kioti DK55C and most dealers were only asking in the low $20s for non-cab loaders in the 04-5 time period, it was common to find cabs in the $25-6k range. Hard to believe he paid that much new for a non-cab, and then how he could justify or even come up with the $11,500 number having paid almost two and half times that. Good buy, but I wouldn't count either side, the new or the used price as what you'll find in the market today. I bought my Kioti used, and kept it because of the quality of my dealer, he sells the heck out of them and has given me excellent service.
