So...Mossroads, were you doing all that work, or were you just costing them so much staying there, that they had a surplus in their budget when you left? (Insert smiley face here)

Well, I was doing all the labor, but I was being compensated with free room and board. Probably eating them out of house and home.

I asked my folks about why they didn't buy any of that stuff earlier and they replied in unison, "We didn't need to. We had YOU!" And then they laughed.

I bought a force logic press tool for copper pipe and PEX fittings. When they installed my new Furnace they used Viega Crimp fittings and no solder joints. Same thing when they added heat to my office in the basement-all press fittings. I like to be able to fix just about anything in my home and with out the tool I felt helpless. I do have the solder kit but I am not good with soldering.

So I bought the tool, first I will be using it to replace all the defective valves in my home and adding a new water tank -both are 30 year old setups - and whole house filter that is wifi capable. I dont think Im crazy...just like to be independent.

How about some pictures of your cool shiny new tool, when you have the time.

I found this youtube video listed below about these copper fittings and the crimping tool, and I think it could even turn me into a DIY copper pipe plumber...

I just ordered a new axe
Oxhead Axe,Axe,Tree,Forestry,OxHead
which will cost me around $100 including delivery. I could have gotten one from Walmart for a lot less but it痴 nearly impossible to put an edge on them. Even Maine痴 own Snow and Neally has never made a decent axe in my lifetime; I want to cut, not bludgeon while spotting property lines.

I own this AMS Sharpshooter shovel. Had to weld it back together last fall due to breaking it just below the foot step.

great for cutting roots, and getting the lower wood block off of the stump after cutting it off.

Right before I sold my plumbing / HVAC business. I was looking at a pro press tool. I just never invested in one. They were just becoming popular right before I sold.
Having said that. Last yr I bought a $1000.00 hammer /demo. drill, to drill holes in rock here at the farm. Bought a 35K tractor.
I do expect to live long enough to get my money's worth. I'm a young almost 62 yrs old LOL

$2000 for a tool you only use a few times ??? I bought a 14,000 pound Deere backhoe that sits around most of the time. But, it brings a smile to my face when I use it. I hope your smile is like mine.

As much difficulty as I've had putting an edge on (or maintain it) on pretty much any sort of cutting tool purchased as Walmart I decided several years ago to stop buying anything that should be sharp from Walmart. Axes, knives, machetes, even shovels used for digging I don't/won't buy from Walmart.....actually I'm not sure I can recall the last time I bought any tool at Walmart (I've mostly turned to Home Depot, Amazon and other online retailers for most tool purchases).

In this particular conversation I don't think we are talking about a tradesman tool as much as we are talking about something that is "wanted". :)[/QUOT

"we are talking about something that is 'wanted' "

Yep.....that is me!
I "wanted" a Kubota L48 TLB.....so I bought one.
Am closing in on 80, and have not had a wife for more than 20 years,.... so there was no need to get "permission".

HAH!!! My wife wrote the checks for all my toys...

I'm with you. Bought my KX71 new 5 years ago. I have about 115 hours on it. Got more projects this summer, maybe 20 hours worth. But... when I want to use it, there she sits right in the shop.

Well I won't say she wrote the check for my toys... because she didn't.... But she did talk me in to a larger bass boat when I took her to look at the one I wanted to buy.... there were upgrades on it she liked.... (wait whose toy is it...) OK, hold on... we are not talking toys we are talking tools... In that category... as my wife would say... "you should ask him, he owns almost one of everything... & he!! two of most"..... but not a Pro Press tool... YET... it is on my list..... :)... It is an awesome tool & if you have ever seen it fix a active leaking pipe in seconds.... well... you would want one... if you can afford it... or just justify... it great purchase.... don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
