Ted,
Looks real good to me, will be contacting you about one of your new rakes soon. I have been an advocate of these since I bought the first one from you.

I agree looks good. I don't see replacement tines on the EA web site. Are replacements available?

How well do these work on wet leaves? Anybody use one or know of a video

Another good question.

Seems there are 4 questions on this rake:

How well do these work on wet leaves?
Anybody use one or know of a video?
Are replacement tines available?
How much do replacement tines cost?

There is no video of this rake in action(yet), We do carry replacement tines, and as soon as we have pricing information on them we will post it here, but more importantly there have been no reported broken tines yet due to the way we install the tines without having to weld them. More info coming soon!

Thanks. I have several attachments from you guys (and love my compact PHD from you), and will be ordering a straw rake. I like your stuff. I just want to be sure I can get tines reasonably IF they do break. Scott H.

We have finished pricing the replacement tines for the Everything Attachments Pine Straw Rake, and they are the same as the Leinbach replacement tines. for more info click here

We live in a fir, pine, cedar forest. We have no lawn and the ground is somewhat uneven. The needles, branches, etc. accumulate on bare ground. How well would the pine straw rake work under these conditions?
Will the uneven ground make it difficult to rake?
Thanks

I have used the pine needle rakes as much as anyone on the forum and find they do a good job under most conditions. On uneven ground you can spill some needles but not often, the rake does a good job of following the contours. For instance you can rake directly across a small sapling stump and still carry the needles with you, might leave a handfull of them at the stump. In the mountains where I do most of my work the rake does a good job of gathering the needles while most rocks will pass through the tines.

My current rake is a 6' Lienbach rake from Ted pictured below, it has earned its keep for sure. I will be buying another rake to cut down to 54 inch width and will buy a new 72 inch rake for next year, both with the replaceable tines. From my experience the replaceable tines are a worthwhile benefit as I have had three tines break off at the weld on my existing rake.

Last year I bought the x749 and rake to clean up pine needles on several properties I maintain. Makes a very manueverable setup and has met my expectations. Since most pine needles would obviously be under the trees choose the width that will fit between them. I plan on one a couple of inches wider than the mower and a wider one for other cleanup jobs. With the mower deck removed I can bunch the needles into large piles to load easily. The grass isn't damaged with this rake either, in the pictures below the pine needles hadn't been raked in previous years before I took on the yard and had just about killed off the grass. With two rakings a year the grass is starting to come back.

One of my problems with this kind of equipment is they seem to be manufactured and available in the eastern US and I am in California. Shipping is often more expensive than the equipment.

The response to our Pine Straw Rake has been overwhelming, we still have a few in stock, and are starting production on more. This design really improves the ease of use, functionality, and longevity of a pine straw rake.

The only problem I have with my Pine Straw Rake is that it drags some dirt up with the needles. We have what we call sugar sand(pretty fine) here. Is there a technique that I can use so that I don't drag up so much dirt?

First off, what brand of Pine Straw Rake do you use? Ours is designed where the tension of the tine is reversed, you will notice that the loop on our tine is at the bottom of the tine instead of at the top. This allows the tine to release under less pressure instead of gaining strength as it is pulled back, this helps keep the debris from piling up with your needles.

I'm wondering this also. It seems like there are not any 3-point dethatchers on the market...

While we have not tested the pine needle rake as a dethatcher, we have many customers that have said they have used it as a dethatcher with pleasing results.

I have one of the red pine straw rakes. I was losing teeth now and then last year, but this spring lost 15 of them and decided it was junk. They are all breaking right after the weld. (this is the one I got LEINBACH LINE pine straw rake - The Smart Farmer, LLC., which looks to be the same unit you sell)

I have about 3 acres of yard I use it on. For pine straw, leaves, sticks, and dethatching. It also works great for after putting grass seed down and raking it into the ground.

I'd be tempted to try the newer kind but I still think the tines will break. Especially since it's 40lbs heavier (ie more weight on the tines).

I'm going to have a neighbor try and reweld the one I have now and try to figure a way to strengthen it. I love this tool for yard work but I hate that it's falling apart so soon.

That is a lot of broken tines imo. I rake about 9 acres a year two times each for the last two years. I have three missing tines so far.

The mechanically fastened tines should hold up much better on the new rake Ted is selling as welding the tines is half the problem with the breakage.

Still the pine straw rake has been very successful for me, saves me a ton of helper labor.

About the dethatching, while not as good as a real aggressive purpose built unit it does a good job running it before a mower with bagger. I tested mine out for this last month and have green grass that looks good in the test area.

A few EA Pine Straw Rake reviews that were recently submitted:

Dave from Missouri:
"I have about 4 acres with about 100 trees that I mow. We had numerous high wind storms this winter and an unusually large amount of natural pruning. I started with a leaf rake and after two days realized that I would be a month getting everything cleaned up. With the Pine Straw Rake I finished in 3 days. Picks up twigs, accumulated mulched leaves and dead grass without damaging established lawn. I also have another 4 acres with even more trees that has been untouched forever. The Pine Straw Rake works well for clearing out the accumulated debris when I want to get in those areas to remove downed trees or standing dead trees. Shipping was very prompt and assembly took less than an hour."

Sam from Louisiana:
"Own a 65 acre tree farm. Mostly pine and hardwood along the creek. Previous pine straw rake is fixed tine and they bend. This spring tine is the answer. I used it to de-thatch the yards (4 acres) St. Augustine/bare spots in the shade prior to planting the annual rye. I am pleased. Shipping and packing were appropriate. 5 star rating for company too."

Paul from Texas:
"This company was fantastic to deal with. I first spoke to Rick by email and he responded rather quickly with the answer I needed to place my order. When I tried to order online, the system was having issues so I called them on the phone and placed the order that way. The gentleman on the phone was courteous, professional, and very helpful. I ordered the 72" Pine Straw Rake to help with the thousands of leaves on my 4 acre property. The implement worked better than I had actually expected, and would recommend it to anyone needing a 3 point method of leaf removal."
