Has anyone found a source for John Deere oil seals? My 3320 has leaky seals on the front end that I want to replace. Don't want to sound cheap but 45 and 60+ dollars for a seal that should be under 10 is pretty hard to swallow. Thanks for any input.
What are oil seals?
My New Holland dealer sells kits that cost over a hundred bucks that contain a large variety of gaskets, O-rings and other fittings to handle a large variety of models. The parts guy told me that when their mechanics rebuild cylinders, they go to a specialty business that does all of the work, and includes the parts for less then they sell their seal kits. So I go there now too, and the guy who runs the place has a huge collection of books with every type of seal, in every possible size out there to order from. It is usually under ten bucks for parts, and then $80 in labor for him to do all the work in his shop. I just have to take off the cylinder and take it to him.
If you can measure the exact size of the seal that you need, and you can find out where they are sold, then you can order it directly online for a significant savings. Measuring those things can be tricky. Jut watching them do it makes my head hurt.
