Hmmmm.... working full time and extra shifts, wife, 7 kids, 4 hound dogs, 5 horses, property to maintain... and you can't find time work on this project????:laughing::laughing:

Hang in there Greg - you've already done a lot more on this project than most of us mere mortals could have even hoped to! You'll get back to it in due time.

Looking forward to Friday morning... off work for the following 8 days. Will be the first time in a few years I've had the whole first week of deer season off, hope to spend some mornings in the woods, and some time in the barn on the truck.

But the way the wife is talking, I'm likely to be watching the deer from the porch roof, as I put up Christmas lights on the house. And it's going to take 2 days to clean out all the junk that's accumulated around the truck cab in the barn, (which the redhead made real clear I better clean out or she will) before I can even do anything. Yikes...

What Mark said....LOL. Gotta keep the wife happy too.

Here is a pic of a guy who went a different direction to get his family hauling pickup truck. Not sure that I would want to put too much weight in that back though, because of the placement of the rear wheels. Looks like the front axle might get a bit light when steering.

Zing:

Ummm, yeah.... that's kinda hard on the eyes. Will give the guy some points for creativity, but he lost more than he earned in style. Looks like he tryed driving under a semi trailer backwards, and it shoved only the top forward.

However, it may have a full length frame, that doesn't look much longer than a 15 pass dodge from that era.

My 87 Ford van was an extended length by adding 15" to 18" behind the rear axle from the factory. And yes when you did feel the trailer effects when towing. Bad design. The Ford was replaced by a GM extended van. GM extended the wheel base, instead of adding on behind the axle and it handled the same heavy trailer much better. Jon

As I recall, the Dodge had a shorter wheelbase than the Ford did so it had more overhang stock. I'm pretty sure that van has the stock overhang for 15 passenger Dodge.
I have driven both the Ford and Chevy 15 passenger vans with decent sized trailers behind them and I didn't find a whole lot of difference and how they handled. I like the Ford's better because of the operator cockpit area ( the part of the door with the power window controls were doesn't stick out and hit my knee like it does on the Chevy).

After spending time hunting, and in general just enjoying time away from work with the family, I never touched the truck project. But I did work out another trade deal, on another superduty crew cab. Even trade, my mud truck for a 2000 F250 crew cab short bed, 4x4, 5.4 gas motor, auto. Lariat leather interior, in used 17 year old shape, with 240k miles. Needs tires, windshield, and exhaust, all of which I have. Will give me something to drive while I transplant the drivetrain from my current daily driver into the extended crew cab project. Then, it will get its own diesel/6spd drivetrain.

If nothing else, I can dream big....
