On Friday, we took delivery of a 7' scrape blade from EA.

We live 20 miles south of Calgary, Alberta and, while we realized that the blade was a good one, we were slightly apprehensive about whether the shipping costs, the additional taxes and broker's fees for importing it would mean that it wasn't a great option. However, the staff at EA handled everything superbly and it was very painless.

We had a fair amount of snow over the weekend and the blade coped with the conditions very well. The ability to offset the blade means that we were able to move the snow from our paved drive into the ditches on either side which was something that we have never been able to do with a quad and blade.

Being a newbie, this was the first time that I have ever had to remove or hook anything up to the 3 point hitch. After much gnashing of teeth and a few profanities, I finally got there and I have something else I can chalk up to experience!:D

Edit: just realized I can't spell. The title should read "scrape" blade. It certainly isn't scrap.

How bad did the government screw you? I know they charged the HST (harmonized sales tax, 13% where I live) but how much duty did they charge? Just like to know for future reference.

There really should not be any duty charges. Due to the free trade agreement and the fact the blade is made in the USA, there should be no duty charges. Sometimes you get raped with charges to clear it through customs....but those are not duty charges.

In Alberta, we have no PST/HST, so, if any were applied, it was just the 5% GST. The way EA's shippers operate is that they pay this and then invoice you for the broker's fee and the taxes. I am at work at the moment but, IIRC, it came to around $80. Shipping was around $180 which, considering the weight and the distance involved, I was very pleased with.
