When towing in hills the NA trucks need a lot of revs- Im not saying they over rev, but spend 30 minutes inside a titan or an even higher revving 5.3/5.0 and you can understand the vast diff in cabin noise the EB. You really cant carry on conversations or take phone calls- a big deal for us office guys sneaking out to the lake early on a Friday....

Take the 3% for the 1000 ft and add in another % or 2 per degree over 100 - when you add the two it gets brutal pretty quick.

ram may have one of those issues solved for 2013 with the new HD AISIN trans in the 3500. we will see. the body and interior on my 2012 ram are much improved over the 08 i had. In my opinion they are on par with ford but only time will tell how durable they are. I read on autoblog that the new 6.2 in the vette puts out over 400ft# at 2000rpm but could not find a dyno chart to confirm or can i really speculate how that will translate to the truck engine. But like you said in a half ton that eco boost seems hard to beat right now when the hills get big. I remember taking my 08 hemi 1500 from MI to Vegas a couple years ago towing an inclosed trailer full of motocross bikes. i was at the trucks max gcvw and it pulled pretty good out to colorado then started to run out of steam quickly and only managed 6mpg for the trip out. We took the southern route back with two less bikes and managed 10.5mpg running the speed limit. if i was to do it again i would want con one of my friends to drive their diesel or eco boost even though my new 2012 ram 2500 hemi has more power and a better trans than my 08. I think it would still run out of steam even though it is really impressive pulling stuff around back here in MI.
