F250 6.2 V8 vs F150 Ecoboost

All good points and didn't know could copy VIN and view window sticker. Will do little more research. I am able to buy under the "X" plan which is supposed to put the price at $400 over invoice without any negotiating. Thanks again for all the suggestions and feedback.

$400 OVER invoice? I would skip that choice. I ordered my truck and paid $750 UNDER invoice and kept all the rebates. I have never bought a new vehicle for anything over invoice.

So let me get this straight....the dealer actually LOST money on a truck you bought from them? Say they paid $25,000 for the truck and you gave them $24,250?

I have never understood why people have to think they paid "x amount above or below invoice". Invoice is just a suckers number that doesn't embody what a dealer actually pays for a vehicle. Most dealers pay a floor plan price, which basically means they rent the vehicles. Every month they sit they have to pay a little more rent, which is why you can sometimes find great deals.

I agree. I ignore it. A better idea is to simply read all the ads in the local rags (aka newspapers), and see who offers the best advertised deal, and then work downwards from there. For the 2015's and the leftover 2014's I'll bet the action will start very soon (usually in March or maybe early April), and you can have great fun making them squirm when you bring in an Ad from another dealer! I did this for all of my 4 F150's so far, and it works like a charm. Let's hear it for the Toronto Sun - F150 pickup truck advertisement heaven!:cool2:

I disagree. If you want to work down from MSRP then go for it. If you think the dealer looses money by selling at the published invoice cost then you don't know the business. I was responding to a post where the gentleman was quoted a price OVER invoice and pointed out that it wasn't a good deal.

Do you believe I was suckered for paying $750 under invoice and kept $6500 in rebates? Did you notice I said that I ordered my truck and didn't buy dealer stock?

I have never seen an ad telling me what a truck I plan on ordering is going to cost me.

All the advertisements I have ever seen are for a specific stock vehicle and it even shows the stock number. How does the second dealer match a price on a vehicle equiped differently? Everybody has their methods that work for them and make them feel like they pulled one off. I know I get great deals.

You have two choices to compare apples to apples, between dealers, invoice or MSRP.

Yup.

Zero % financing is another.

I took out financing on my last truck just to get an additional rebate. Paid it off after the 60 day minimum period. I have a separate savings account for vehicle purchases and don't buy until I have the cash. I buy a brand new vehicle every 5 years.

You do as I do. I pay myself $400 per month per vehicle into a "CAR" account. That's $5000 a year per vehicle. That plus my trade or selling my trade always puts me in a position to buy with cash.

Yup. Just say "How much is the truck if I don't take the 0% financing?" and you will see what the real figure is.

That's true for the actual price. In most cases, if you don't use the dealer's financing, they lose the dealer reserve and other back-end monies which the buyer will pay in an increased purchase price. I finance at the dealer then go home and pay it of or whatever. The reserves and other backends the dealer gets are not insignificant. Some of it is just a piece of your interest expense that you would have generally paid anyway.

I've seen deals finalized and then rescinded at the closing due to the purchaser changing his mind and bringing his own money...The purchase price went up, sometimes substantially.
