Farmboy: so the bed is junk? For that money, I'm going to expect a useable short bed... and meet other requirements as stated.

Was talking to my neighbor earlier today... has an XLT crew cab he's parting out... rockers are shot, but interior is in great shape, gray cloth with the 40/20/40 front bench seat I'm looking for... will have to discuss deal options with him. Would just be cab and frame, no front doors, or front clip, or bed. He's keeping motor/trans/axles and front doors. Much to think about.

And a peek under the hood reveals an oil leak... Might be between the HPOP and timing cover/reservoir... Further exploration required.

Edit: my above reply wasn't there/visible when I posted this one... Just so y'all don't think Im off my rocker.

Your rocker is fine Greg...

The Rocker is fine. His truck is rust free long box but recently converted from 6sp to auto

For the CAC boots, I learned my lesson while hauling with my 2001 7.3 dually.

When you go about reinstalling them/tightening them. Take a little bit of hairspray and shoot the inside of the boot and slide it on right after. Then tighten your clamps. It is worth it.

I am decently modified and have yet to blow a boot off again.

I've heard of the hairspray trick... need to do that. I did clean them really well when I put them together but I think the root cause was not tightening that particular boot. Still haven't given it a good hard run to see what max boost is possible... should hairspray the boots before that.

Thanks for the links to the trucks... the crew cabs are what I'm looking for, like to be in the $5k-$6k range, but my dually has to sell first. And I might just keep it, been thinking more about that...

Fingers crossed, but it looks like there's a real good chance I'll be bringing home a stripped cab for an F250 extended cab tomorrow. Dirt cheap, so im not gonna think twice about cutting it up. Stay tuned... about time to start a new thread, the super-seater truck thread... *grin*

Much to disappoint of my wife, more junk came home with us today! 2001 F250 extended cab with manual trans tunnel... Well worth the $100 for the good windshield alone!
