F350 vs competition

I looked up the labor to R&I the engine for 2012 1 tons 4WD desiel automatic trucks, everything equal.

F-350 w/ cab removal 13.5hrs w/o cab removal 14.7hrs

Sivlerado 3500 17.1hrs.

Ram 3500 16.4hrs

Good thing Ford is quicker.........because you will be doing it two to three times more than a Cummins or Duramax.

Yep, because the Ram and Chevy trucks are already in the junk yard since the chassis is shot.

See, we could do this all day long. It's pointless. None of the vehicles are junk any more. Personally, in my experience, Ford has been a better vehicle all around, so that's why I buy Ford's. Doesn't mean people haven't had problems with Fords, doesn't mean that Ram/Chevy are junk, doesn't mean that others' experiences aren't different than mine. To each their own. YMMV!

The Cummins might be there, but the Dodge body around it will have Cummins sized rust holes in it :D

I have to laugh going through this, as my 2005 5.4l F250 works just fine for me. I tow my tractor with it, I haul loads with it, I do whatever I need so far. But since it has 1/5 the hp (or whatever) of these monsters, then it must not work. But yet it does. Do I care that I can't hit freeway speeds in 10 sec when towing my tractor? Heck no. Who's in that kind of hurry? Now if I did it for a living, then I could see the use of diesel from a time, efficiency and longevity standpoint, but I still don't get it for most people's use. No wonder they cost $60k. Don't need it, never will. /soapbox off/

So I watched the video and I am impressed with all of them. I own a 2012 f350 and it is an amazing truck but all of the big 3 have more power than most end users need. I do agree that ford stacked the deck with the axle ratio's.

Compared to my 97 F450 the new f350 will out pull and stop better but the f450 still feels safer when I am hauling really heavy loads.

when i haul my heaviest loads i switch from my 99 350 to my 99 450.

different axle ratio.. better suspension ( upgraded ).. etc. and yeah.. feels better for just those simple reasons. don't get there as fast though... :)

I forget who posted it, but with all of these HP battles, who is actually winning the longevity/cost of ownership? A truck that gets 3 or 4 mpg but tows a cruise ship is of no use to any of us. A truck that costs $100k+ is of no use to most of us for daily use (i'm sure someone could justify it though). I would certainly like a good running truck with decent unloaded mileage (20-25 would be excellent), that doesn't need a laptop to diagnose and I can actually work on it and identify components under the hood with a diesel engine. At some point there is going to be a split between people who use trucks as a grocery getter/family toter/camper toter and those who use them to make a living/run a business.

I posted this before, but it really makes you wonder how anyone got by with a regular cab pick up back in the day. If we believed all of these "Heavy Duty" (none of these trucks are heavy duty) truck ads, you have to have the most/newest/fanciest to get any work done.

Hahaha. I love stirring the pot. I'm allowed to bad mouth Ford's.......I still own one.
I love the trucks themselves, but unfortunately every Powerstroke I've had contact with has been a nightmare. Even after deleting and head studing. I loved the 7.3's though. Maybe I should have done the Cummins swap in one.

Maybe if I had found better dealers I could have tolerated the problems, but unfortunately I didn't. So I had to move on for my new purchases.
