Un-fricken-believable.

Agree, I can't believe this thread has gone on so long.

I read that several days earlier, have you read it? Where does it address the issues regarding huge and wholesale differences in filtering between off-road and highway diesel sold for terrestrial use in the USA.

Nice try though, throwing 100+ pages of data at a question with a dismissive "there you go".

According to your source they are one and the same, just ad dye.

To clarify, Murphy was refering to Mud Mechanik and his source. I maintain that terrestrial off-road and high-way diesel are the same product with the addition of dye for tax purposes. I will continue to believe this untill a verifiable source indicates otherwise, beyond specious claims and hearsay

I'm just gonna leave this thread with one last post. Why would an oil company put red die in diesel that could be sold for ra higher price by putting green die in it. Buy what you wish for your tractor and i promise not to post again unless i have a picture or government documentatipn for your review.

The offroad fuel down there may be crap, but up here is the same fuel, but the stuff with the dye added costs $0.14/L $0.63/gallon less then the on road fuel, just road tax. It is all ULSD up here, on or off road.

Wow. I guess working at a refinery doesn't mean you know about taxes and pricing

I just don't see farmers putting inferior fuel in equipment that may cost close to $200,000.

For those who care, attached is the ASTM D975 spec for all diesel fuels, no real difference in the specs. Read notes D and E.
