Wow, that is some offer. Really really appreciate it. Unbelievable that you would offer to do that for someone you don't even know.
Did kind of fall over the Rural King Store site tonite. They are offering the TractorKing 200 with is 20hp, 2wd, with PS and turfs and showing a price on the net of $4000 with 6 month warranty and actually the 25hp, 4wd is $6k. Out of my price range right now but still interesting. May get stuck with $350 in shipping charges as not sure if can pick up in Illinois or has to be delivered somewhere. This kind of thing would probably suit my needs perfectly for now. Loader is a down the road issue because of dollars.

Well with NFTA, pretty well goes that if you can bring into the U.S. then you can bring into Canada. Engine must be EPA'd or acceptable for import into the States so should be no problem there. Will call Customs and find out the process but I am sure that they will be glad to see me as they will be trying to collect 15% tax on the price after converting to Cdn dollars.
Works out that a $4000 tractor costs around $4900 Cdn and then they want 15% tax on top so tractor ends up costing over $5600 Cdn.
So, you can see why I was trying to get something that was pretty inexpensive but even at that rate, can't find anything up here in that kind of price range so is a bargain.
So, invoice price is what will count here. Interesting thought re invoice price.
When you look at the Rurl King site you see the 20HP is a TK-200 which presumably is tractor King ( rebadged Jinma ? ) Next up is a JM-254 which must be a real Jinma.
Will see where this takes us after couple of phone calls today.

Dont' assume these tractors are "EPA approved" just because they are here in USA. there was a post by someone on the ctoa board that bought from rural king, got 2005 tractor with 1999 engine. Also it was a Laidong, not Yangdong engine. You need to check this very carefully with Canadian customs before you drive down and by one. Farm Pros are now EPA certified (new stock only) these are the ones with the higher prices and two year warranty. Many Chinese tractors are brought into USA under exemption programs that may or may not be mirrored in Canada, be careful. Farm Pro is the only one I know of that has certified the Y380 engine to my knowledge, they did it with the brand "homier" not Yangdong and are considered the engine manufacturer by EPA. My understanding is that the Y385, YD485 from Yangdong and TY395 from Jaingsu Jaingdong are the only engines with EPA certifiecations held by the Chinese engine manufacturer in their own right. So you can find 25 (24?) and 30/35HP EPA certified Jinma and KAMA tractors in USA all other HP sizes (except perhaps the Perkins in the fig foton/farm pros) are under some type of exemption program, either by date of manufacture or othet exemption allowed by TPEM. What we basically talked about was whether there was any duty on them. After quite a song and dance about USA made or non USA made, it turns out there wasn't any difference anyways as it would be duty free.
Only get stuck with 15% tax.
So, guess I had best talk to Customs again and maybe our Transport Canada people to see what they have to say.
Little on the parade here but we will percever.

Well, got off the phone with Canada Customs again and Transport Canada and there does not appear to be any problems at all bringing in a tractor. While not saying it outloud, bascically if for sale in the U.S. and therefore meets the American standards , then it can be brought into Canada.
Does not matter that is made in China, assembled in the U.S and then I import it into Canada. No Duty either. Just the 15% in taxes after the purchase price in converted to Canadian. I think there wold be issues if I was bringing in a bunch but then would need a certificate of origin and some kind of paper work that shows it meets the current EPA standards even with the exemptions.
That said, going to go low end Rural King ( 20HP, PS and Turf tires ) which should do all I need it to do for this year and the spring ( after I get a couple of attachments for it ).
Odds are that I will be looking for something more substantial next summer or fall but also by then a few issues I have on the go will have been resolved and I can start looking upwards and onwards in the tractor world. Unless I kill it, pretty sure will be able to move the Rural King when I decide to move up.

Glad to hear that all is going well.
Try to get the Spring Suspension Seat if you can with it also. The Seat is the most used item on a tractor, but is often overlooked in the purchase.
Also read up on Greg's advice on Flushing and do as he recommends, it may save you a lot of grief. Also get the 2 year warranty, if it is available. A 2 year warranty will help you to sleep better at night and may provide a good safety net, just in case.
Again, glad that things are looking positive for you and wish you all the best with your new tractor.

It is odd the way that things go because after finding the Rural King sites and tractors, have found someone in Pennsylvania that offers the same thing but for $500 more.
My choices come down to picking up in Illinois which is about 475 miles from my place, paying 1.35 a mile for delivery to the border which put is right up, or, might go to Pennsylvania instead as there might be a little price matching going on and since is a Farm Pro I would get the 2 year warranty for sure. Getting all organized for next week and will finalize then one way or another.
Must tell you that I am still in shock as to the desolation in the Gulf Coast and my heart if with you. If I could, would do more but donations to the plight of Americans down there all probably the best thinkg that I can do.
