I had tears as I read this, 50s Farmall was the first tractor I drove, used it for everything, then more tractors were added, Farmall 560 diesel, Case 400 (2), then a couple of IHC crawlers, TD14 one with cage and blade, one with just drawbar. The single front wheel Farmall was rebuilt after the rain got in the exhaust one winter.. light use after that, someone got it for less that $200 at auction when Pa passed. Lots of happy memories!

Thought I would add a little update. I got the carb totally rebuild points redone along with fluids and a bunch of little things. After taking the carb apart 3 times to adjust and change things like the float I got it running really smooth. The plugs are a little white which means she's a little lean so I might try to richen it up some but it seems to be running pretty smooth. Guessing it bad to run it on the lean side? For getting the float setup right I made a little jig that worked awesome. also had my 6 year old out helping pull and rebuild the carb with me. Now I'm itching for the snow level to drop so I can go pull logs with it and work it hard. I attached a few more pictures. I do have a question there is a little plug right Infront of the clutch is that the fluid level full plug for the rear end fluid?

You said that it is in front of the clutch housing- my 1943 Case SC has a wet clutch. When the oil pan is filled to the proper level, engine oil runs over into the clutch sump. Mine has a drain plug for this sump. Perhaps your tractor has a wet clutch too. If it was for checking the rear diff fluid, the plug would likely be in back of the clutch housing.

That's great you got it running..!!

It's been years since I had my H, but no, the differential level check plug should be on the differential case. Forget exactly where, but should be just below the level of the PTO shaft.

I can't picture the plug you speak of, maybe a pic would help. Maybe it's a hydraulic outlet..?? But, that would be behind the clutch. The H is dry, from clutch housing, to rear diffy. Hydraulic belly pump is in the torque tube, below the belt pulley, if equipped.

Any chance the plug colour is effected by the low compression & unleaded fuel??

Here is the plug. When you pull it the same nasty fluid that appears to be in the rear end is in here also got me wondering if this is the full checker plug

That looks like the drain plug. The fill/check plug is the bigger one about halfway up the pot.

Very hard to tell by your pic, which is too close. Use a long pointer if necessary so the pic can take in more of the tractor chassis.

Appears there is a top cover just above your hand?? Maybe you are in the transmission case?? I'm not certain whether the trans and rear diff run in the same oil?? Older tractors tended to be separate cases. Sorry I can't be more specific
