Wolverines for me I've had just about every other brand out there! I only get 6 to 7 months out if a pair! Mechanic in a coal mine between kicking standing in mud oil grease and d 11 tracks they just don't last long and the pair I get are light comfortable and waterproof and breathable. So I just get 2 a year and I'm good to go!

I just read on Justins or chipiwas site that one is owned by the other. I think Justin bought chipiwa a few years back. I like my chipiwas pretty well I will see how the soles hold up. These are my current boots they look similar to the Justin lacers some one else posted on here. They at least have a Vibram sole so they are replacable. Typically I wear holes in the leather first though.

The Justin Boots carried by TSC are all made in China. I went to the Justin Work Boot Outlet in Justin, TX before Christmas and I'd say about 50% of the boots are made in China and the other 50% made in the USA. The funny thing about the boot outlets in Justin, TX is that they have two big stores on opposite corners of the street. One is for dress and casual boots and the other primarily for work boots. They both sell clothing in those stores to match the boots. That's what I call a "specialty" store.:)

I think the made in China thing holds true to almost all the better shoe makers these days and not just Justin. Wolverine, Justin, etc., I would say it's more like 75% are made in China. Same thing with New Balance, until you get over about $125 for a pair for shoes their pretty much all made in China.

Plantar Faciitis was pretty much unheard of until the last 10-15 years and I still say it's coming from cheap made Chinese made shoes with no real support for your foot. Ever pick up a pair of shoes at Kmart and stick your hand in them, their insole/footbed is completely flat whether it be a work shoe or dress shoe.

I have "arther" in my feet and red wings are the only boot I will wear. have even worn them to church when my feet hurt much. Not at all dressy but comfy. Have worn red wings for 30 yr and plan to continue.

I converted to Danner a couple of years ago . I'm on concrete a lot , and dirt . I wore the first set of laces out , called them , they sent me a couple of sets no charge . Theses boots are lighter than tennis shoes , wear great , I have a pair I keep for clean , and a new pair in reserve . This is a great product , if you want comfortable feet :cool2:

I have a couple pairs if Chippewa boots. They have worn really well. My oldest pair is incredibly comfortable. And anyone else prolly would have thrown them out 100k miles ago. A month orso ago I bought a pair of boots with the Caterpillar logo on them. They are not heavy duty work boots, more like a glorified hiking boot. But nice to wear when I don't need a heavy boot.

Have you everlooked into these? They are a Red Wing company but they ave a line of dressier casual boots that might work or you.

I have a friend who swears they feel better than Red Wings to him.

If that's the boot you're buying here is the place to buy them ,Charm Harness and Boot in Charm ,Ohio. I've bought several pairs of shoes for myself and family , always the cheapest price around, treated fairly never any questions if we had a problem with shoes for the grandkids , wife or myself.
Though I had there phone # could not locate it , but I know they have a phone , they are in Amish country. Sells just about any brand , I know Red Wing because that is what I'm wearing for my work shoes.

My in-laws live nearby the store. Got my harness boots there...great place.

I've had White's, Wessco, Danner & Redwings.

Started with Redwings, they stretched so much that on side slopes they would twist out from under my foot & I'd get a minor ankle injury. Lasted a year or two in the woods.

Went to White's. Best boot made. Not cheap. Still have the pair I bought in 1976, but feet change as you age and they no longer fit. Rebuilt twice.

Wesco: Employer bought these because we were working in a lot of blow down timber on rugged ground, walking logs 20 ft. off the ground and agreed that we needed caulked boots (boot for working in timber with the nails sticking out of the soles). Had them fitted at the factory. Not as comfortable as the White's. Retired after a few years, so I didn't have the chance to compare life expectancy with the White's.

Danner: Cheap boots. One of my crew bought a pair & they lasted him one summer in the woods. When I was in the Air Guard, they bought me a pair because the military issue didn't fit my narrow feet and caused foot problems. They are OK, but not great.

My only complaint about White's is that they won't keep your feet dry, even if you are only walking thru we grass.

I'll have to go and talk with my banker to get a loan to buy a pair. At that price...they should go to work without me.

Im sure I will get answer across the board on this one. I like wearing usa made boots and ones that are resoleable.
I have worn timberlands, rockys, wolverines, Keens, Red wings all of which have not held up to my job. The soles come off the leather tears in the toe area. Im currently wearing a pair of Chippiwas 8'' steel toe boots. They are nice boots and the leather is very high quality full grain from what I can tell.

Does anyone one here have any experiance with Whites boots or Wessco boots? From my reasearch they are the toughest boot money can but and are completle rebuildable.

They are not cheap but if they hold to their claim of being comfortable and durable I would give them a try.

My FIL has been wearing White's boots ever since he started working in forestry. He has long since retired, but over the last 40 years he has only had 3 pairs of these. He says they are the most comfortable boot he has worn. He still has all 3 pairs and the first 2 have been rebuilt and are still wearable. They can also be customized. Measurements of his foot were taken and the heel moved over slightly on one to help with how he walks and when he needed a new built or one rebuilt, they were all made the measurements he gave them without any hassle or complaint. So, if you don't mind spending the money, White's is probably one of the few co's you will find service like this from.

I ordered a pair of Wesco Jobmaster 10'' in reg. toe with steel toes up front. I had them custom fitted off of their order sheet and talked to the guy that does the fitting. He assured me my steel toes wouldnt rub my feet becasue he had the excact outline of my foot and measurments. Yes they are pricey but if they are comfortable and hold up it is worth it to me.
I will be sure to try and review them once they come in but, things are busy at work.
