I have recived a flyer from FAE that showcases the PT machines, they could be the new kid on the block for prime movers. I would take a look if anyones looking into a larger or new prime mover.

Seems like we have an FAE salesman on here. PT Gators are way to expensive to be compared to the FTX 148-L. Find the thread on the FAE demo that they did down in Atlanta. I can assure you that the 148 is a working machine and FAE has nothing that will compare to it.

I second that one CB. I have never heard anyone rave about the PT's. I have heard of lengthy down times from parts that are readily available and stronger on comparable machine's. Then on top of all that add a steep price and you have put yourself out of the running. And lastely you still have a FAE head???

Salesman NO, satisfied customer YES. Robbie - why would I want to purchased a DC head and spend multiple hours everyday sharpening teeth after a hard days work and only get half the warranty? I went with the facts when I bough my machines, oldest company in the business, longest warranty in the industry, and machines that are reliable. Call me crazy but that seems to be a decent business plan?.

We"ll I'm glad you ask. First off FAE makes a quality head, craftsmanship is top notch. Secondly the liniage (sp) they all come from the same group of guys, meaning the originators all know each other or worked together at one time. Wierd huh!
Next I will go over your points
1. Sharpening. With carbides after 100 hours or less the tips round off and cannot cut clean with the ground. Therefore leaving sprigs everywhere and also affecting production because the cutting tool is dull. Yes we sharpen our blades usually once a day and it takes 20-30 min. Our heads cut the same everyday from the beginning till you change the blades. Dull carbide, oh well, only option is to change.
2. Second warranty. Well if I were doing half the work our heads are capable of then that works out. I can double the production and capacity by just swapping heads. I do it all the time. HP for HP on a demo I will flatout outwork a carbide equiped head.
3. Realibility. I have a DAH-150E (large excavator head) running on a 400hp tigercat here in Ga with over 6000 hrs on it and it works eveyday. Be happy to show you.
From my notes I have yet to see on average a FAE with more hours on a comperable heads of ours. Fecon yes, they are a little more common.
I am glad you are happy with your head and I hope it serves you well. But if you are happy don't come watch one of mine run because you just might change your mind.

hey everyone, I have been looking into buying a mulcher and startin my own small business, and I thank you all for the information I have gathered from this forum. The cimaf head is sounding like the direction I may head in, and know the search for a carrier. not looking for anything to big or over priced. Like I said I am just getting into the business. there is no one in my area offering thse services and I now that the demand is there...anyone have any suggestions on what I should be looking at for a machine, or one that is not going to fall apart when I get runnung it...thanks for any and all info...
