I'm kind of surprised by the reaction to a group of people who seem to enjoy and respect the outdoors so much. I am not very fond of snakes myself, but when I am mowing I always avoid them since they help keep the freaking field mice population under control, and I only have so many traps. The darned things make a mess of my house.
In regards to the main subject of this thread? Are you talking about these Rattlesnakes Stock Photos and Images. 801 rattlesnakes pictures and royalty free photography available to search from over 100 stock photo brands. or these Congressional Leadership, with portraits. 112th Congress, 2nd Session. From TheCapitol.Net
I apologize if I offended anyone.
They want to protect them federally then I guess we round them up and send them to the Whithe House with the rest of the Snakes!
I'm with you. I have a fenced property and my dogs stay on it. I let the non venomous snakes be. I've even released several to help with rats and mice. I have 2 gopher tortoises on my place now and I expect more. Not a problem for me.My approach is similar to yours. I know I am having a mouse problem when I start seeing snakes around my house. i let the non-poisonous ones go, usually shoo them or relocate them. Copperheads, mocassins and rattlers, well, considering we have dogs and a pretty mobile 15 month old daughter, they get extinguished. I am just not willing to take that chance.

But rattlesnakes have to be eliminated. I don't have a choice the way I see it.
If I see a mocasin or any venomous snake in the woods, I let it be, won't go near it. Years ago I would kill them but not any more. I leave em for the dog hunters to deal with
