Federal protection for Rattlesnakes?

It was real ironic the day I posted this my whippets found a 3 foot speckled king snake in the yard. He was relocated. I chalked it up to God testing my honesty in my tbn post!!

Here is a pic of him I was able to grab before i relocated him.

Timber rattler aka canebrake have killed 2 men in my "neighborhood" (within 10 miles) in the past couple years. In both cases the men got too close and the snake protected themselves. I found one sitting in the middle of one of our golf cart trails while we were trying to pass. It wouldn't move. It died of lead poisoning from a good distance away. THEN I found out they were a protected species. oops.

Please, please don't tell the Government about this or they will send folks out with shotguns.

The other 2 (a breeding pair) died of natural causes. Seems to me a Shovel fell on their heads.
