FEL bucket not staying in place

Okay, two questions...

1. Can the load drop check valve simply be replaced? I took it out today to see if it was dirty or there was something else stopping it from working and it looked fine.

2. Is the plug, spring, and plunger all that makes up the load drop check valve? What I saw today didn't look like it was damaged or worn in any way, the tractor has just under 50 hours. It seems to me that if there is a problem with the mechanism, it would be in how the plunger seats in to the valve body which means that it could require replacing the entire valve.

And a third question...

If the load drop check valve can be replaced, where would I get one? Is this something that can/should be ordered from NH or should I get it from a Husco distributer or does it matter?

The load check is usually just a poppet, a spring, an o-ring and the plug itself. I know that Prince makes a kit for theirs. If your valve is a Husco it might be a proprietary valve for NH. If that is the case (it is for Kubota Husco valves) then Husco will not give you the time of day.

I'd see what a replacement from NH costs, if available. If it's cheap the try it. You can also swap the load checks between the spools. If it still fails then maybe there is something internal to the valve that is malfunctioning. In that case it's time for a hydraulic repair shop. If it's under warranty, then let the dealer look at it but not the dealer you mentioned previously. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Interesting thread. I was cleaning the barn last night and found that I can float the bucket for lift, then while holding the joystick in float, still roll or dump the bucket by moving the stick left or right. However, if I just drop it to float position (bucket level)and don't move the stick to the side the bucket will also roll/dump with no downpressure on the edge. It seemed logical to have it this way, but all this talk has me wondering if mine is acting right. I'm just over 30 hours on the DX29. Comments welcome.

My situation is that as I back out of the barn, the ground drops down, so back dragging the extra dirt I put in there after cleaning involves some compensating valve work as the rear of the tractor drops down and tends to lift the bucket. Float is great for this stuff, but sometimes it helps to have the bucket float in roll/dump.

Okay, I ordered the poppet, spring, and O-ring from my NH dealer. The part number for the plug didn't bring up anything, so I couldn't get that. I assume unless the plug is visibly screwed up or leaking, it can't be causing any problem.

Probably won't get them until the first part of next week and I'll post the outcome then.

BTW, the three parts were around $15 at my local dealer. I looked up the same parts on Messick's and each part was around $1 less.
