kubota 3010
I'm having problems With my front end loader. It is a kubota la481 on a 3010 gst. I was moving snow today and my control valve operating the lift stuck in the down position. i was able to use the tilt to get the bucket up enough to get a jack under it and raise it up so i could chain it to the brush guard and get it to the barn. Does anyone have any ideas on how to release this valve. How hard is it to rebuild the control valve assemble. Thanks Aaron

Welcome to TBN:D

It's more likely the linkage between the joystick and the spool (the part that slides in and out, -OR- the float detent, it's in the "cup" that's at the opposite end from the linkage, there are small balls in there to hold the spool in the float position and it's not uncommon for them to get rusty and/or corroded.

See if you dealer can give you a parts breakdown of the valve...

Some debris, parts of o-rings, could be binding up the spool. Turn the spool, tap it, etc.

As far as rebuilding the valve, on some valves you can replace the o-rings, but most spools are a dedicated spool that was selected for that spool. You usually can not get a replacement spool off the shelf.

Aaron Wade,

Can you post some close up pictures of the valve?

Glad to help:thumbsup:

One way to help prevent this in the future is to drill a small hole in the cup to vent it-and pack it with grease.

Mine had the same problem I lost two of the small balls. Will it work without it and I cant figure what holds the spring in. I found a parts list. Can I order just the ball bearings?

You should be able to order them.

Where is the best place to order from and will it work without them? Thanks JJ

The valve manufacture or the tractor manufacture.

If you scrounge enough you might find some to match.

Drop by a hyd shop, and they may have some parts available. New or used.

Thank you Thats what I will do. Would it hurt it if I packed it with grease with no ball bearings?

Probably not.

If I understand what you are saying, the float won't hold in the full forward float position without those parts. Or it won't hold in the center no movement position. Or both...If it was mine, it would be definitely both:laughing:

Yes it would go up but I had to find the sweet spot to get it to work. It wouldn't go down slowely with any controll Just by reseasing and putting it down to float. Im trying to find the ball bearings now Thank all of you for the help.

I got a roller that picks up roofing nails and found all the lost balls. Im going to clean them up and put it back together and let you know how it works. Thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

Be very careful with the grease. I just replaced my detent springs and ball bearings in my Kubota 682 loader. Used grease to hold all the parts together for easy assembly. Now there is not enough resistance to hold it in the float position. Had to take it all apart and clean everything up.

I love doing the same job twice!

Did you get the stock bearings?

They have to be the right size to lock in the detent groove.

I got the entire kit from Kubota. Mine was a mess and locked up tight in the down position. When I took the cap off it was all locked up. I carefully tried to remove it resulting in all the parts shooting across my gravel driveway. I found a couple of them after 45 minutes on my hands and knees. I was repeating very bad words at the time!
