If you need more weight why not put downpressure on it?

Not the same as putting weight and floating... especially moving forward in my opinion.

i didn't read all the posts....

besides moving the joystick or lever to float....
let the engine rev down to idle / low RPMs.

high RPM,s just turns the hyd pump faster, requiring that much more reaction time for you, to move into float position.
once in float. bring the revs / RPM's back up to were you need them.

My bucket drops like a rock when I put it in float (not a Kubota). Since I am not comfortable with the 'ram the joystick forward at full speed' method, I've learned how high I need to have the bucket so that, moving the joystick at the speed I want to move it, the bucket just touches ground when float mode engages.

Well, never exactly, but I don't ride a bronco anymore! Boy that bucket jacks the front end up quick and high if you don't get the stick far enough!
