FEL lubrication - has to be a better way

Any pins and bushings its best to use a grease with Moly. I use Schaefers 238 in mine, been very happy with the it. What tractor was that worn boss in? Was the keeper bolt always in the pin to keep it from moving?

Thanks for the tip on the Schaefers. They're pretty proud of their grease, huh? ;)

This was an LA724 loader on a Kubota L3240. Keeper bolts were in place. It was pretty abused when I got it, and probably got very little grease. And I probably wasn't as diligent as I should have been, either. Over 3000 hours on the tractor when that photo was taken. See the link in my SIG for all the gory details.

My LS calls for NLGI-2 grease as well and you’re right, there are a LOT of choices. I did a lot of reading, researching, and watched a lot of videos by people who know more about grease than I do and in the end I chose Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty grease. Resistance to water wash out was a big point for me as part of my property is a wetland and my tractor sees a lot of use in watery and muddy terrain, and the Lucas (as advertised) resists wash out really well. So far I’ve been satisfied with its performance in the environment that I operate. It’s also easy to find and the price is good at around US $4.50/tube at Wal Mart, Amazon, and most Hardware & big box stores. It’s poly urea based (not lithium) and in my application it performs better than lithium based greases. I used a little extra on the first grease job I did on my machine in order to flush out any residual grease the factory used since I didn’t know if it was poly urea or not (poly urea can be incompatible with some other greases) but I’ve never seen any signs of incompatibility since I switched to the Lucas.
There are lots of opinions on what’s best, but for my uses and needs the Lucas X-Tra HD fills the bill. In the end I think any decent grease will do, especially if used frequently (every 8-10 hrs). 👍

The last sentence is the key.

Thanks, Lucas X-Tra HD it is, then. Current price on Amazon is $48.33 for a case of 10.

FWIW, here's another thread praising polyurea grease...
