Everyone,
I just picked up a logsplitter and will be attaching the hydro lines to the curl/dump connections on my FEL. I am going to have long hoses made and would like to know the size of the quick connects the FEL lines use?
I am hoping to get these made so I can split some free wood this weekend.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, I just went through this on a 3010 Kubota tractor. I have a three point log splitter. With long enough hoses you can put it on two sawhorses or leave it on the ground or on a trailer. I have it hooked up on the fel valve. Red is the pressure side going to the in side of the splitter valve. Blue if I remember right is the return. I tie the joystick to the steering wheel with a bungie strap. Yes I had the same problem getting Quick Disconnects. I had to order two to go on the log splitter for the pressure and return. Kubota is by itself on the Quick Connects. If you need a part # let me know. Before I had the QC I went direct to the joystick scv valve, but this is alot of trouble, having to get the right fittings. I can hook up log splitter in less then 5 minutes. I do use the curl and dump side. Leave your bucket straight
before disconnecting your hoses. You can still use the up and down and move logs in the bucket so that way it does not totally disable your fel. We are enjoying my log splitter. I run tractor engine I guest around 1500 rpms and have plenty power. It cuts on the forward and back stroke. I also intalled a four way attachment to it, but prefer the two way. If you have any questions let me know, I will be glad to help. You can use the two QC couplings on the blue and red side. Install it on the splitter hoses til you get the two extra couplings. This is what I did.

Steve,

I bought my quick couplers from MSC,

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mscdirect.com/PDF.process?pdf=4324&Keyword=Y>quick disconnects</A>

They are the 3/8", Snap Tite series 72. That is exactly the same disconnect as what the loader uses. The above link is a PDF, so it may take a while to load, depending on your connection. $15.33 for the connector, $7.52 for the nipple. I have the 3010, not sure if your loader on the 3710 will have the same size or not. Probably, but may be 1/2". Look at the nipple, if it is 3/4" to 1" in dia, you have 1/2", around 1/2"-3/4" it's 3/8". If you order today, you will probably get it tomorrow, but that may not work this late in the day. Sorry I didn't see it earlier. So. MD. hydraulics in Waldorf or maybe even Gardiner's may have the quick disconnect you need, but expect to pay as much as twice the price. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. I did you guys put together your own hoses or did you bring the parts and have someone else assemble them? I have given up on trying to get this thing working this weekend. I will just try and have it ready for next weekend.

Thanks again,
Steve

At present I don't have the part # with me but I will get them tomorrow at work and then will post it. I will also get the adapter # to the QC.

Thanks James, I seems that I plan to do a project like this quick and I run into little snags. Hopefully I will be splitting wood next week.

Steve, I am a little confused in the part #'s here as to which is which. Went to the farm supply store twice, first to buy a hose & fittings. The log splitter came with two short hoses. I joined them together with adapter fittings so it could reach from the 3pt to the scv on joystick and purchase an all in one hose which I install on the pressure side which makes both of them plenty long enough. I first ran the splitter direct without any QC. QC took almost ten day to arrive. Here is the way it reads on my two invoice receipts, hope you can make it out.
1st trip one- p176 Coupling amount $3.77
one- 1/2-144 hose assembly $28.95

Second trip Two-P175 adapter unit price $7.39 $14.78
Two-P128 adaptor " " $1.29 $2.58
I believe the two P175 are the QC.
Or maybe better than this you could call these people. They had to order the Quick Couplings for me. Kubota people did not have any in stock that would fit. I believe Kubota by itself.
You Can call these people Hidalgo Iron Works Inc.- Farm Supply store. Phone 337-948-8534 They could probably tell you who they ordered from or maybe you want to hook hoses direct. By getting the QC it is so much faster to hook and unhook. Let me know if I can be of more help.

Forgot to mention, have extra hydraulic oil on hand for the log splitter cyl. It will lower your tractor hydraulics if the logsplitter cyl. is dry.

I got the hoses made. For anyone else that is looking for the quick connects MSC has them and they fit perfectly. They were about 20 bucks with shipping instead of $58 per connector.
