FEL Snowplow

great thread, this AND the other one where you mounted the valve. after only having my 4115 for 4 months, i have put serious thought into putting a plow on the loader frame. you are mounting yours exactly as i have been brainstorming to do with mine. i never thought of the diverter valve until i saw your other thread. (i am new here, and although i was a truck mechanic and now am in paving/excavating, i never got into hydraulics other than plumbing. valving is a mystery to me.)

your pictures and threads will help me IMMENSLY for this project. THANKS! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice looking project!! Can't wait til we all get some snow for you to test it out.

I've seen a manufacturer using lexan above the cutting edge. It supposedly keeps the snow from sticking and sounds reasonable. You might want to take a llok at it.

Keep us updated with pic's Especially after we get some SNOW!!........ /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.........J

To paint it you might try a 2 part epoxy I get from PPG/Porter than can be applied down to a 40 degree temp and it's tuff as nails

Kenney very nice looking plow. I always enjoy keeping track of your projects as they are always first rate.

Glad you and I aren't neighbors, as we wouldn't get anything else done because I fear we would both always be helping each other with a tractor project. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Keep up the good work and we hope you see your snow.

Kennyd,

Do you plan on plowing with your loader valve in the "float" position? If so, I think you will have problems steering your tractor. My goal would be to have the plow resting on the ground and still have the full weight of the loader boom on my front tires. Maybe I'm missing something in your pictures, but it looks like you have the plow mounted rigid.
I don't mean to be critical. Just want you to be happy with the performance.

Scozz,
Thanks for the kind words!

Mike,
I think you are correct, we would never have time to work making money, only spending it on new projects! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

WinchMan,
Yes, the FEL with always be run in the FLOAT mode so the plow can follow the contour of the driveway better.

I researched this project to death, and felt this was the best way to do it, I even stumbled upon JD's setup on a 4710 tractor at a local dealer, and I just happened to have my camera with me when I saw it, I took lots of pictures!

I tried attaching a picture the the setup that JD uses, but having a hard time resizing the picture.

But the JD plow is mounted ridgedly to the FEL.
