Grapple FEL stick controller always loose

I had an EA 3rd function valve/stick installed for a grapple. The stick itself screws into the actuator under the rubber accordion dust boot. The only thing keeping it from flopping all over the place is a jam nut that screws down onto the top of the actuator. The thing is constantly breaking free, no matter how tight I get the jam nut.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any more permanent fixes out there? Thread lock maybe? I probably only get about 2 hrs in the seat before it’s all floppy and worthless and I have to tighten it again. Getting old

I think I'd try thread locker. Before using, you'd best make sure the steps you'll have take to get it back off aren't too drastic for your application. I'm told, some thread lockers require heat.

If you use thread locker - for God's sake use blue - Loctite 242 BLUE threadlocker OR Permatex PX 242 BLUE. The red stuff WILL require heat to loosen - the blue will not.

The joy stick installed with my WR Long third function kit wiggles more than the OEM joy stick. But it's because the replacement is a whole lot taller and heavier than the OEM.

I've thought about taking it to the local welding shop and have about 6" cut out of the stalk. Just never get around to it.

use a lock washer or star lock washer under nut.
