Have to try wild boar sometime. But isn't there a much higher risk of disease then there is with domestic pigs?
Just cook it till the inside temp is 180 or so other wise no one would eat bear meat they have a lot of ticks and other things .

I have friends that come from California that come up every year to hunt geese and ducks. We also took one of them moose hunting one year. All you need to do is find someone willing to be a hunter host or hire a guide.

I don't know anyone up there so that leaves me out

Somehow here in VA we seem to escaped the scourge. I don't wish ill on anyone but it sure would be good to go hog hunting without traveling much and spending an arm and a leg.

Maybe good for you, but really bad for farmers with crops and those hogs have even been known to root up yards in residential areas. I know of a few farmers down in Texas that had decent crops decimated so badly by the hogs that what was left of the crops weren't even worth harvesting

Maybe this is a little off topic but..... At my place in south TX I used to kill several rattlesnakes each year. After the feral hogs moved in, I seldom see a rattlesnake. I still see what I call a coachwhip from time to time. My theory is that the hogs will kill and eat any snake that coils or otherwise stays in place as part of a defense mechanism. The coachwhip will flee, and they are very fast. They get away.

No limit or hunting license (unless you are hunting hog during a big game season) is required in Oklahoma either..Permits are required, but readily given for night hunting. Neighbor has trapped over 200 off of the river bottom lands not a mile from our house . And they are still ripping the fields apart..Tasty though:licking::thumbsup:

200? That's a lot of meat.
I was taking my nightly walk on Saturday and saw a big pig, I am not good at judging weight, but it was a big one, must have got hit by a car and flipped over the railing so it was dead laying next to the big water canal that supplies Marseilles with water. Next day it was gone, that canal is well monitored, the hydro plant is not more than a block away.

We get wild pigs on the farm, you can see their leavings and also where they root. Hunting season just opened Saturday but do to the high risk of forest fires all the forests are closed. Supposed to rain Wednesday & Thursday though. Gosh it has been so dry here this summer.
