Yup, at least two!Did the rod break or come loose at crank end? Could have been faulty rod end cap or rod itself. Not common but it does happen. Either way might need two tubes of JB weld to patch the block![]()
I couldn't see any of the rod, but I think the cap came off because the bolts failed; however, that doesn't rule out the rod failing further up first. There's a guy on eBay parting out a GC1720 and he told me that the engine had failed at about 100 hours. He was only selling two rods and pistons (I bought other stuff from him).
And there's this GC2400 for sale with 387 hours and a new engine: 2011 MASSEY FERGUSON GC2400L For Sale in Batavia, New York
... so, I guess it happens.
