Anybody have a web site where I can research and place a value on a Ferguson Two Bottom Plow? Excellent shape and still plow with it.
Plow has brass tag with model (14a) and number (5387) on it.

I think you may be on the site where you can find a value. Ken Sweet will be along by tomorrow morning and give you an opinion for your part of the world (I think). Put a tape from the center of one beam to the other.....my guess is that its 2x14" bottoms.

In the meantime.....I say a nice two bottom Ferguson plow with counters, a rolling landslide, and no need for major repair will sell for $350 to $550....maybe a bit more ...depending on how bad you want one. ;)

One thing.....I'm not certain that parts interchange with a Dearborn or Ford plow...which could be a factor down the road. ?? (For occasional or garden use....it would likely last a loong time.) Seems you can find parts for the Fords and many Dearborns.

I think the value of these good old plows keeps climbing a bit as there become fewer good ones available to buy. They are more desirable to own/use than a new plow....IMO. I can remember having an assortment of plows like that shown that we offered at $50 to $100....but that was 40 years ago. (grin)

dearborn of the same style go for 300$ pretty commonly.

I have the exact same Fergeson-Sherman plow. I'm not expert but have heard it is a little more valuable than the traditional Dearborn, Ford or other Fergeson plows because of:
-main beams were more intricate with molded attachment points for the coulter wheels right in them rather than using a couple of little shaped pieces that clamp the wheel attaching arm.
-the top support is also cast and of a shape different than the others.

From the picture, It appears to be a 2 piece setup on the moldboard with point/share. If this is the case, the plow is fine until you break something. Parts are not available unless you can get a blacksmith to make parts. If I am wrong and it is a 3 piece setup with moldboard/point/share and the shin. Parts are inexpensive and easy to find. This is a 3 piece setup on a plow. You can see in the picture the outline of all 3 parts. We ask $450 for this plow. Ken Sweet

An additional option is to replace the frog, preferably with one with a moldboard/point/share in good shape already attached. Maybe parts from a plow with bent beam(s) might be available.

Ken, What size is this one? (12, 14, 16, other?)

This one is 14 inch Ford. We have a 14 inch Trip beam John Deere that will be coming out of the shop this week. It has coulters on it and is really super nice. We have a lot of 2-12 plows with no coulters solid beam starting at $375 + modest shipping.(some may need a coat of paint but are not sprung.) In addition, we have some 2-12 trip beam plows in the $450 range with no coulters. Ken Sweet

I have one very much like that one that I gave $250 for about 24 years ago. I had no idea it was appreciating. I still use it, so it's market value is not of much concern to me.
