Guy's, how does the 5th-w to GN adapter work?
I thought that the 5th-w are about 10" up above the bed, where the GN's are at bed level. My GN hitch (on the trlr) is adjustable but I don't think it has 10" of adjustment. I haven't checked into it but I thought that you could only go 5th-w to GN with adapters and not the other way. Just curious.
I've used these folks before and they are good to deal with and offer a complete line. I think they are a small family type bus. that has a big business professionalism. Welcome to Weaver Distributing
The easy way is to have 5th wheel rails in the bed, and own the following:
5th wheel hitch that uses bed rails
Gooseneck ball plate that uses bed rails.
Just install the one you need at the time.
'The goose' is the Reese version of a gooseneck ball on a plate that mounts to 5th wheel mounting rails
Some are saying that the turnovers are high maintenence, but if you semi-frequently use them and change them out and simply keep them lubed they work great!
I vote for the underbody GN hitch. MY FIL had one of the GN rails in the bed hitches and I always thought it pulled funny. He recently changed over to a flatbed and a underbody GN ball and it tows so much better it feels like a different truck. I think that the connection with the trailer has less leverage on the body of the truck and makes it tow smoother. I personally hate the rails in the bed because they always seem to be in the road or filled with crap and you have to dig them out to install the hitch. Just my .02 though.
