Ken,

I did not realize that you had cleaned the tank. Good explanation on all the things you did, you are well ahead of us on the filter cart. Did you ever consider using high pressure filter in the PTO circuit with magnets surrounding the outside, since the PTO pump is running all the time?

Hi JJ,

I thought about putting one in the pto circuit using quick disconnects and use it when not using that circuit for anything else. However, a 1 micron filter or any other filter could clog quickly. So I would need to install a bypass rated for the flow and pressure like I did in the filter cart. Then I would need pressure gauges to show when it is bypassing. That was okay but I realized when I wanted to filter most would be when I was using the PTO. Not sure if there really is a good way to plumb all of that and not have it where things get destroyed by branches, etc.

Some sort of bypass filter setup might be a reasonable compromise.

Clearly filtering while using the PT is better than what I am doing. I am surprised PT did not do something to filter all of the oil but the units seem reasonably reliable doing it their way.

I could extend the rear tub of the PT and put a high pressure system inside of the engine housing but I have not gotten the illness that bad yet. :)

Ken
