To replace my 85100 on my Tractor King 404 I found it easier and quicker to cut the filter mounting pipe in half making it shorter and then tap the inside to 3/4 inch with 16 threads. I had it done at a shop for $5.00 they did a favor. So my 24 mm fitting is still in the mounting bracket inside it is a 3/4 screw on pipe that almost any normal filter will fit. Wix 51515 was the most common for tractor 40 Hp size. Which is about the same as the Havoline F1A in the pic. I put thread lock on the assembly and put it on and let it dry later put filter on and it works fine. Cost of homemade assembly total $10 plus 1.70 for a filter. compares to $11 plus shipping for OEM 85100 filter.

Sounds like a really neat modification.

$1.70 for a filter? In my area a Wix filter costs at least $9 with change and tax. Fram can be had for about $5.

The significance is the adapter. Make the adapter and use can use a lot of different filters. Without the adapter you pay $11 plus shipping for the original or use a 24 mm 2.0 thread off the shelf that is made for hydraulic applications.
In the south Freds Dollar Stores are everywhere they are the source of 2 for $3 or now 2for $3.40 filters.
