They were a little tired but not too bad. The TN was used yesterday to unload a 3200lb pallet of concrete. That is enough to bring the rear end off the ground with out counterweight (I think you know how I found that out /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) The 1920 spent today drilling holes and clearing junk from where we were starting to work. Spent yesterday hauling shingles to the dump trailer while the TN did the heavy lifting. I am beginning to think the 1920 is a slacker /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

End of the day. We only worked half a day today as we had to help a friend with their horse.

Robert,

Nice to see your progress...sometimes wish I had a second set of hands to help...

One advantage of working alone is it takes long enough that you can rethink what you are doing and make improvements along the way.

Keep those pictures coming!

We are constantly improvising. If we are not sure about something we skip it till we decide what we want to do. That is why there are no end post where the garage doors are suppose to be. We have not decided on the exact size and placement for a few. So far the 24' section will have 16'x10' overhead doors on both ends as well as a walk in door. The 16' section will have a 10'x10' door on the far end and either a 10'x10 on the closest end or something a tad smaller since it is going to be a wood working shop. We have had 3 people working on and off. Some times it is just my dad and myself. Tomorrow we will probably have my grandfather and one of our friends who owes us a lot of favors come in and help.

It was nice to have 3 people working to set the middle row of post. The 18' 6x6 gets kind of heavy. Was not worth the hassel to use the TN since I could only use it on one end so we used the old method of lifting with our hands. One guy held a board to keep the pole from tearing the hole up while I ended up lifting the pole up as being the tallest one I lift higher then the rest so I am lucky /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The third guy helped with the concrete mix and bracing while we leveled and positioned.

My only problem with working alone, is that I never listen to myself.

Well, we had plenty of help today. Ended up having 11 friends show up to help set trusses (we asked 2 friends and they brought along our other friends and next thing you know...) Anyways, the fist pic is after we put up the pearlings and beams on the one wall and the beam on the other. We are in the process of putting up the trusses and you can see some of our friends. I am the one up on the wall to the left, my dad is on the wall to the right and the guy on the ladder to the right is the salesman at Regal lumber where we do all our business including this barn (he is also our friend which is why we do business there still)

All the trusses are up and the wardens are inspecting the jobsite. So far they are happy with the progress.

End of the day, plywooded and felted the one side which is a tad under 9 square. We sent most of our friends home after the trusses were up since things slowed down while we braced and straightened everything.
