I think $60 is cheap sleep insurance for not having future problems, I would not want to know what a new tranny would cost. I also had metal on the screen when I took it apart. Thanks to the folks here I did not go nuts when I saw it.

On a another note....

I added more oil to top off the engine, took another 16 OZ for a total of 3 quarts and 16 OZ with filter.

The Kubota manual maintenance check list says to replace transmission fluid and filter at the 50 hour service. It does not say to clean the strainer until the 300 hour service, I only did what was recommended, would you recommend I go back and clean the strainer ? I have about 63 hours on it now.
I am sure the best time to do it was while the the fluid was drained out, do you know if it is possible to do without draining the entire system again.
Thank's

Every post I have seen where folks cleaned the screen they indicated they found metal. To change it now?, guess it depends on how conformable you are knowing metal can be in the screen, and how much of a problem, if any, it will cause in the future. I think I would clean the screen, catch what ever oil comes out and pour it back in since you just changed the oil. I do not know if I would have changed it, if the manual said not to. I also changed the front axle oil, but the manual did not say to do it. Thanks to the TBN family advise, I did change both of them. Guess all that reading while listening to the Yankees pays off!

My 2 cents.

Definately do the oil and the rock filter! When you think about break in, it also means the oil is breaking in. It breaks down with heat and contaminants just like engine oil. As Nike woulld say, "Just Do It". I think it's Nike :)

I don't know about where "you" live, but here where i live, when the fuel man delivers the diesel, he throws a packet of die in the tank, and puts the clear on top of it!! Same fuel! Then because it's now red, he doesn't charge me for the road tax!! Every place i've ever been, the red fuel was nothing more than died road fuel!
There "is" a difference in number 2 diesel fuel and "premium" diesel fuel. I don't use any thing but the premium.

1. To remove the engine oil filter you will need a filter wrench, the type that fits on the end of the filter with a hole in the center for a wrench
A black wire bundle is right in the center of the filter, very little room to work.
2. If you drop the front bracket for the 60" mmm and remove it , and turn the front wheels to the right, you can get the pan under the drain plug to remove the oil.
Did you fill yours to the top mark? or is the middle OK???
7. To fill the transmission, I took a funnel and put a 3 foot section of clear hose on it. Was just enough to reach the hole and stand up while pouring.

1*This wrench will only work on the original filter. When you go to remove the replacement filter you will need a filter wrench that has 3 fingers or claws.
The black wire bundle is no problem if you use a 3 inch extension between the filter wrench and the socket wrench handle.
2*I cut the side out of a 1 gallon rectangular windshield washer container for this. This way there is no need to drop the front bracket for the 60" mmm and remove it or turn the front wheels.
I just laid the container on top of the 2 round rods going from the mower to the bracket. Plenty of room to get it under the drain plug to remove the oil.
Fill oil and tranny both to the top mark.
7*I use a funnel with a long metal flex type spout for this.
