Good luck... TSC @ Amsterdam is tight tight tight..., probably hose it down and resell it... (if he gets his money back -unused...)/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

If the First Choice is the same cost... I'd go for them... or spend a few dollars more and get the FC medium duty series... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Actually, our lift pins are somewhat lower than other cutters, but thanks to TBN, our cutters also include the holes for moving your lift pins to a lower position on our production models. Thanks guys for another good idea.

I have assembled it and put oil into gearbox but have not attached the PTO to it yet. I am waiting for FC to get back to me with a price. If they have a mower around the same price the KK is going back for sure. However if FC is much more I will keep the KK and fix the setup issues that I have. The KK really is not a bad unit, it just seems to me that they are being foolish by sending out cutters with these issues. Come on, how much money/effort could it take to make sure the setup manual is free from spelling errors, shows how to install the toplink U piece, and provide an extra set of holes so we have the option of lowering the pins? The U piece for the toplink needs to be 2 inches longer so it can swing freely without having the top link pin smashing into the upper part of the lift arms, and their website picture has to be changed to show the U piece in the lower position.

That definately put First Choice a step ahead of KingKutter!

John,

I am thinking about buying a used JD 72 in. rough cutter for $300. Why would one retire a rough cutter? What goes wrong? What damage should I look for on these used models?

Thanks

Buck

I finally got a chance to take a picture of my King Kutter. This is the second year I've been using it. I clear about 50 acres with it, and when I first cleared them, they were pretty rough, lots of samplings, bramble, briar, etc. My KK has held up very well, and I'm real happy with it.

Hey Rich:
Do you have any problems with the toplink pin hitting either of the lift arms that run from the toplink down to the deck of the cutter? I have decided that I am going to keep my Kingkutter, and have made the necessary mods to make it work properly with my 2710. Boy does that cutter make a mean menacing hum when the PTO is engaged. It is kind of scary. I am going to use it for the first time this weekend. Do you have any tips of techniques when using it?

Hi Richie...

I believe you may have been one of the last fortunate ones in our area to buy a 5' KK rotary cutter for $499... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The way prices are going... You can use it for another year or two and then sell it for $550... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
