Now if battery tech would have a breakthrough like LED for lighting that would really be something.

If this really happens my trailer hitch might do double duty towing a power module... it can take less than a minute to hitch up.

Funny thing...

I was daydreaming today while a friend was driving and thought, hey, if I had a tesla, maybe I'd find a front end wrecked tesla, cut the rear off, make it into a matching trailer, and throw a/some batteries in there to increase range for long trips. Of course, there's a trade off for weight towed VS battery life, but it's an interesting concept to me.

I've seen people take old cars and make a matching trailer out of the trunk of a donor car. It always looked pretty interesting with trailer matching the car that's towing it.

Why limit that to EVs? It should be factored in everything we consume, up front, instead of letting become something like a superfund cleanup thing and having the tax payers pick up the tab.

Oops, they put a Yugo battery in my Porsche. Guess I'll have to sit the right lane today.

Seriously, though, how many car companies are going to go with a universal battery pack, compatible across all brands and models? None.

I think quick charging, like under 10 minutes, will be the eventual norm.

I don't know about modern batteries but years ago rechargeable batteries performed better with a slow charge.
My guess is a low battery pack that could be recharged in 10 minutes would produce lots of heat.

Yep. But you know people. Busy busy busy. They want to get where they're going and not be inconvenienced by having to wait around at a gas/charging station.

Certainly better than sitting around for an hour at some charging dock, twiddling your thumbs. People today are always in a big hurry to go nowhere anyway.

Interestingly, people whine about how long it takes to recharge the Bauer 20 volt tool batteries but so far for me, the slow Bauer charger hasn't degraded my batteries at all from what I can tell. I would think, same applies to a car battery.
