Hmmm. They sold it to you with two lifters missing?[/QUOTE

Nope the newer MISHI tractor I have we bought from them but they offered to fix the crack in problem engine but we didn't take up their offer. My dad bought the yanmar from a small dealer in Beaumont tx north of Houston. My dad did mention that the yanmar had a smoking problem and a loss of power a couple years before the block cracked. Maybe they just ripped us off and just removed lifters from a cylinder to see if it would stop the smoking? And broke a head bolt in the process.

Hate to say it, but If this were me, I would stop right here and part out that 1300. It's not cost effective to restore an inexpensive model that is both broken and missing parts. (that haven't been made for thirty-five years!). Start over with one that is complete and running and save years of frustration.

I'm 99% sure I will end up parting the engine for scrap but my dad is going to want a opinion from a guy in person knowing him so after that I will get the parts on eBay hopefully. Should their be any engine parts I can keep if I plan on getting the same engine and use for spares? Also if I do get another 1300 engine I will defiantly do the cam journal mod to prevent this happening again if I do plan on keeping her.

I would keep the old engine for parts until the replacement engine is installed and running You might be missing the odd bolt or hose etc.

After that - I wouldn't keep anything. Anything the tractor needs after that should probably be bought new from Hoye etc.

But - also consider offing the whole tractor complete, and start with a different one. Seems to me this would bypass a lot of expense and complexity.

The cost of replacing an engine can easily far surpass the cost of a similar running tractor.

Originally I was plan on getting the engine on the yanmar 100% and then sell/trade for a K5 Chevy blazer as a great first car but after all this hassle i might just keep the tractor for a story lol.
